EARLY ACCESS // book preview
Added 2021-12-14 09:47:31 +0000 UTCHey lovely patrons! I’ve been spending the last few weeks working intensively on the upcoming artbook. We’ve been working on the page layouts, which basically means that 3Dtotal sends over a draft of the book, and I put together detailed feedback and adjustments. They modify the draft and I continue giving feedback until I give my approval and it’s ready to go to print!
I finally approved the layouts last week, and now we’re working on the exercise booklet. I’m really lucky to be working with them because they are super committed to making sure I’m happy with the final designs, and they take all my feedback really seriously. And when it comes to things like this, I am incredibly nitpicky :’) The images above are a preview of 3 spreads from the book that I’m really happy with.
There’s also one exclusive drawing that didn’t make it to the final cut of the artbook. It’s an inked drawing from my sketchbook that I scanned and partially painted over in photoshop, so it's mostly traditional with some digital touches.
Hope you like this little sneak preview! This week we'll probably be done with all the layouts and then I can focus fully on generating new art this month :)

I don't know what will happen in the future but I hope that if there is a chance for another book you can find something that works well for you. i look forward to being able to get my hands of your book once it goes on sale! super exciting!

2021-12-16 20:49:05 +0000 UTChey Cluis, here's part of the response I got from my publisher that I hope is helpful for you: "For the KS campaign we actually fulfil all the books in the US as it makes it cheaper for the backer and a bit more reliable. But we’re actually aiming to have a site in the US fulfil all our orders there soon. We moved over to Shopify for our store a few months back and are planning to use their US fulfilment sites to send books/orders in the new year. That should make it cheaper and faster for US customers." They've also forwarded your comments about the packaging to the department that manages that. I hope this helps in some way although I totally get that this doesn't reverse your past experiences with them!

I am so sorry to hear that. that sounds incredibly frustrating. the shipping is indeed very expensive from the UK and you should be expecting better packaging for that price. 2021-12-15 08:33:13 +0000 UTCI am so torn with 3Dtotal. TL;DR - Beautiful books created with great artists. But the shipping and handling is a mess for me. They care so deeply for the product, they would be terrified to see what some of us end up getting on the other end of a sale. They really do a PHENOMINAL job putting these books together with some really awesome artists. I have ordered a pile of books from them over the past couple of years. However the shipping... I caveat this by saying I live in the US and my results may be different from most. But every order I have gotten from them the boxes have essentially started falling apart. Most of them arrive with USPS tape all over them to just hold them together. In a couple of cases the books were waterlogged when they showed up. This last time though was just insane. It took almost two months of back and forth with customer service to get actually get all the books I ordered. They were totally responsive and cordial, and even waived the shipping charge after like the fourth week, but considering the 4 books were around £71.46 and the shipping was £56.79 it feels like you are paying more than one should even if it all went as expected and arrived in great condition. 3D has both you and Eleeza, so I obviously won't be going anywhere else, but considering the amount of money you two provide the business with I would hope they start looking at the shipping and handling process and find a better way to do it, at least for overseas customers. Wow that's alot. Sorry :D Super pumped for the book, looks awesome so far!
