EARLY ACCESS // autumn forest
Added 2021-10-28 09:25:36 +0000 UTCEarlier this month, I sat down to create an autumn-themed painting, but I wasn’t happy with where it was going. It just felt too empty to me, and more like a random study than a proper painting. I ended up ditching it and drawing this image instead!
A few days ago, I revisited this study and tried to fix it up so that it felt more like a companion piece to the ghost painting. I’m still ambivalent about it, but it feels more alive to me than before! Here’s the final result as well as some WIP shots so you can see what it looked like when I decided to stop working on it!

Reminds me that something about your intuition with the use of color in a piece could make a great tutorial video topic!! I struggle with that a lot. Your tutorials on skin tone and how you choose color were super useful already, I won’t mind another one on color eg. how color sets a mood/impacts composition etc. 💛
