EARLY ACCESS // band of brothers

One of the last big battles of World War 2 was fought in the region, so there was a lot of history there. Because of that, we started watching Band of Brothers and I got really into it! It’s such an amazing show, and one of the episodes takes place in the Ardennes, which made me feel even more connected to it when I watched it. Here’s some quick studies of four of my favorite characters from the show!

What is impressing me the most is, that they are not looking muddy although the clothes have to be "muddy" and there are not many colors to handle with. Well done!!

2021-10-30 04:54:15 +0000 UTCthey did a similar thing with Saving Private Ryan, with the interesting twist that the actor who played Ryan (matt damon) was not present for the training, and so he was an outsider to the platoon who would rescue him in the film as well as real life. Btw, if you liked that show, there is saving private ryan obviously, Flags of our fathers, and another film Tom Hanks wrote called Greyhound. They all have that kind of "bond of combat" flavor to them. Though prep yourself for more lovely desaturated, gloomy aesthetics :D

2021-10-05 12:43:52 +0000 UTCagree, the cinematography blew me away! it was honestly more like a movie than a show. the characters were what really drew me in. i learned that they were all subjected to a really stringent bootcamp for 12 days before filming, and you can tell that the actors really bonded together authentically through that experience. their friendships are incredibly believable!

There are "attractive" people in this show, but they do their best to make everyone look like they are real people, and not overly polished hollywood folks. Helps that the cinematography is pretty outstanding. :D Great doodles! Weird and lovely seeing you work in the washed out muted palette of WW2 for some reason.
