EARLY ACCESS // car sketches
Added 2021-06-28 09:00:03 +0000 UTCTime to step out of my comfort zone! I always struggle with things that have straight shapes and a heavy mass. My art tends to turn out very flowy and light, so drawing cars is very much the opposite of my aesthetic! But it is something I want to get better at. Here are some car studies in which I tried to capture their look but also stylize and exaggerate them a bit so that they felt like ‘my style’. I have mixed feelings about the end result but it was definitely fun to do!

2021-06-28 10:20:19 +0000 UTCI wouldn't have known this wasn't a strong point for you, tbh. Looks great. The only thing off is the flatbed truck (bottom left). I can see in the photo reference why we don't see into the back, but in the drawing something about the angle makes you feel like you should see into it from above. That's an annoying comment, I'm sure. I mostly work from references and it's always aggravating when you faithfully represent a photo but the painted version doesn't fool the viewer like the photo does.

2021-06-28 10:00:30 +0000 UTCAww, those are great. I love the way you caricatured the cars - if that‘s the right word in this case. I especially like the top most one, with it‘s pointy front and the blueish lines on the back, it makes me think of the car version of a dachshund wagging its tail.
