WIP // flow thumbnails

Some thumbnails for an upcoming painting! I want to make an underwater piece that has a high focus on flowing elements that add movement. I’ll be finalizing one of these in the coming months! Which one do you like the most?

Comments

The second has great potential for dramatic development

Greg Schultz

thanks so much for joining, that means a lot to me! it's looking like number 4 is the most popular choice at the moment!

Loish

Number 4 for sure! The lighting, perspective, and flow are all incredible. I’m so happy I decided to join your patreon!

Shaniqua Leach

4!!!

000Migami000

4!!!

Karie Wang

Number two(top) is my fav

MIGUEL ANGEL GONZALEZ SANTOS

Four

Violet

I like the two at the top!

Claire L. Fishback

Like the others, the bottom right one is my fav!

Amélie

thanks adelle! that's my favorite one too!

Loish

i think this is the most popular one!

Loish

Love all of them! I love the bottom right the most, appears to be rising! Just beautiful

Stephen Scowcroft

top left and bottom right!

Brianna Manresa

Bottom right!

Krista S

I like the bottom right - it seems to have a more positive vibe whereas the others seem ominous, or dangerous.

Christina Veillette

All are amazing! I would go for the second or the 4th (these two on the right side). :D

Hannah Euler

Bottom right and left!!!

Daniella Tran Van

All are great. The 1st and 4th seem most realistic but I do love #3 as well.

Lisa D

all these are so pretty

Scott Thigpen

el primero y el cuarto♥ ️

salomon varela

I love the 2 on the left! I feel so much movement and story in those two!! ♥️

Mandy Olsen

Top right is my favourite!

Desi NN

They're all beautiful! Bottom left was my first instinct, but after staring at them I LOVE the top right

Grace McCullough

Bottom left is my favorite, but they're all amazing!

Carly Houzenga

Gosh I love all of these! Bottom left I think is my favourite, feels really dreamlike and I can imagine it as myself in that blissful feeling when you jump in the sea <3

Adelle Gough

bottom right is really unique! love them all though!

Timerie A Blair

I think the bottom right one is the most compelling to me. :) I love the perspective and the flow, and i get a feeling of serenity from it, like that feeling of stillness when you are underwater, just below the surface, delighting in the colors and light.

Vespora

all are awesome! if I had to pick one probably the 4th but all are amazing. You used any reference for these?

crokie

I really love the first and the fourth ones the most. But I would really like to see how you approach doing the disturbed water effect around the girl's body in three. If I had to choose one, I would say the first. It seems like there's a story here. Like, what is she swimming down to? She looks like she's swimming with a purpose, you know?

Niquey

Bottom right

Mandy Schultz

top right (2nd) or the last one in the end (4th). It's something very new and extraordinary from what you usually paint *-* (e.g foreshortening) But I trully love all of them

Illusione

ohh, i love seeing you link your preference to the place that we are in our history. that makes so much sense! thanks for your feedback :)

Loish

thanks so much! and yes that's a good tutorial topic, i will add it to the list!

Loish

thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback!!

Loish

i'll be sure to record the process so that I can make a process video at the very least :)

Loish

thanks so much :)

Loish

good point! thanks so much for your insight :)

Loish

thank you! and yes that's what I based the image on, those bubbles that come up when you jump into water quickly!

Loish

Bottom right

Jackie

My jaw just dropped. My favorite is bottom right

nartista

I like both the top left and bottom right the most!

Amy Taylor

I like the bottom left the most, because there will be more bubble effects and water movement. If you do a search for “diving into water” than you’ll see what I’m talking about.

LarryJ

I think the top right one is really different and I love the action pose of it :)

Atılay Sargın

For movement I like the bottom right. I feel like the others are at moments where they are pausing or gliding, the hand on the top left makes me feel like she's going a bit slowly. the one on the bottom right feels the most active to me and I also like the jellyfish lol. all are beautiful!

Iridescentli

I like the top left. Definately.

Ryan The Artist

I love the top right the most. The fierceness of the pose and glowing eyes are captivating.

Spoopy Cat Studio

agreed. Top right looks the coolest but perhaps bottom right conveys flowing more haha

Andrew

choosing is really haaaard! haha they`re all so amazing!! I love the top ones and their energy. :B

Mari Bertolin

I love the water plunge one on the bottom left. I feel it's an agressive action and also soft. It's interesting to me because I don't see that kind of water image of. I love it

Roxolana Krywonos

My eye was immediately drawn to the bottom right one first but I also like the top right one 🙂

Lynn Zammit Russell

Bottom left or bottom right. Both have so much movement 🙌🏾

Maibrit Müller

Bottom right corner is my favorite

Ryan Roberts

These are so stunning even in their simplicity 💕 I really love the top right

Jill Anderson

I like the top left and lower right but I'd say the top left is my favourite. To me it has a real sense of motion to it.

Keith Ward

I cannot decide, all of them looks EPIC! 🤧👏🏻💖

Genesis

They are all so strong and expressive! Amazing work, as always :) My favourite is the one on the bottom right.

Silvia Wipfler

that is such a beautiful interpretation. it's amazing how images set next to each other can create a story, even if that's not the intent!

Loish

The last one make me feel hope :)

Sandra Elderberry

They all look amazing, my favorite ones are 2 and 4 :D

Ece's Art

I like the top right, but I think the bottom right has the best flowing look.

FaroreNightclaw

the second! top right.

Axel Oil

Actually,I really enjoy the second one.

daxin zhen

I like the top two the most, maybe top left

Holly Colbourne

I keep going back to that bottom left chief. There's something so cathartic about it.

Millie

My favorites are the top left and lower right.

Jared Schmitz

I love the intensity of the one in the upper-right! But they all are stunning!

Reagan Lehman

I can’t really pick one! All of them look really captivating and feels like a different emotion from the same character. Honestly, I’d love to see all four as a exploration of grief. The top right looks like anger/fear. The bottom left looks like sinking into grief almost like the event just happened. The top left looks like bargaining a bit or another stage I’m forgetting the name of. And the bottom right looks like emergence/acceptance.

Pierre Brown

4. it's gorgeous.

Slow Burn Studio

WOW!!!!! I think the two on the left have more of an action shot, really feeling like they both just dove into the water. The two on the right look like they have more storytelling elements. They’re all just incredible!!!!

Jac

The two on the right :3

Ariadna Haro

Bottom right or top right!!

Colleen Staurseth

I really love the one on the bottom right! It has a really emotional feel to it for some reason.

Lindsy Wheaton

Bottom right has my vote!

IndyWins

Lilanoire

Bottom right.

Leanne Huynh

Ariana Stokes

Bottom right stole my attention ♥️♥️

Keylan

ScribbledCrayon

Laura Coleman

The too left

Laura Coleman

I love the one in the top right corner. It looks so majestic and mysterious.

Riley Morgan

Top right has a cool dynamic pose

Gurlsluvchocolate

There's a process video regarding that Lois did for Procreate, very interesting one :) Search for "PROCESS VIDEO // generating ideas in procreate", it's part1 and 2 :)

Radka Kopecka (radu.k.art)

I like bottom left and I'd love to see how you do the water breaking under the surface!

Brittany Small

Bottom left.

Kelley King

Top left

Darlyre

I really like top left! Top right is my second fav

Tyler

Top right :)

Turtle Burst

Top right!

Babett

The last one looks amazing! ❤️ Are you planning to make a tutorial about this? I'll be really helpful ☺️

learclow

I really love the mood/emotion of the top right, but just love the bottom right.

Cordell Be

I really loved the ones in the botton, specially the botton left.

Spucka

Have you record the process for the thumbnails ? That’s could be a interesting video 🤗

Noname Art

I really love the last one, so bottom right. I guess it's just because I love it to have kind of light source on a picture like "the end of a dark tunnel". Kind of reaching the "light" and force the hope. Haha just tried to move on my look at others art with this analyzing way you told us in your Style Q&A

Kirstie Elissa Engel

The 1 and 2 are too classic. I like the 3rd but love the last (bottom right)

Noname Art

O God, hard to choose. All of them are gorgeous but I love the bottom right piece :) It is queenish to me 😊

Mona

Bottom right is def. my fave!

Alicia

Love the bottom 2...prob bottom right the most..❤❤

Shannon Gates

Top right or bottom rigth!

Xuan Delgado

bottom right ! But I think that bottom left with some jellyfishes would be awesome ! ;)

Wh0

bottom left looks like such a fun one!

Adri

Bottle, left (or bottom right) 🧡

Sophie Meyer

Beautiful! Top left and bottom right are my favs

Nienke

You really get the sense she's bringing she's calling the fish forth in that one

Stuart Shields

Top right! <3

huhwn

Bottom right I think ❤️

Megan

They're all so beautiful, I think maybe top left is the most flowy or bottom right, bottom left is gorgeous and I'd love to see it finished but I think for flow it almost has too much energy same with top right though I'm sure they would all come out stunning.

Holveig

The two on the right are my favourites but they're all gorgeous!

Kataraqui

The 1st one! Top left 😍

Mrs. Annie Mation

top Right!

Luca Rovelli

4 is my most favorite of them all! But 1 looks amazing as well. Hard to choose from haha

Impyuuo

Wow! Bottom right is stunning

NadiaMakesSomeArt

Bottom left – there is something a lot more dynamic in that pose that indicates some kind of a forceful, downward movement in the water. And depending on how you interpret it, it can create so many interesting nuances and different takes. Of course, I'm looking at this and attaching your style to it and that helps me imagine the finished piece to a certain degree. I can't put my finger on it, but this is my fave out of all 4. :)

Rali M.

I'm going to have to go with Top right!

Empress Rena VT

Either the Top Left or the bottom right one! Although all of them let ok absolutely stunning, these two capture the most of the flowing essence in my opinion

Arjun

Bottom right is my favourite 😍 it will probably look amazing to see the light dapple through the surface

Anni Tendo

They are all so beautiful but I think the two on the right really captivate me

Tamara

Love them all so choosing is hard. I'm going with top right because of the body language and the eyes.

Stuart Shields

These are lovely. My choice would be the bottom right, I really like that ascending perspective. And you will be able to play more with light coming from above.

Laura Strimbeanu

Top right for sure!

Floriah

These are just gorgeous…. Bottom right is my fav, but all would make beautiful pieces.

Lion Art Studio

These look amazing!!! My favourites are the first and third one, but all are great! I love how you can capture the contrast and movement using just grey scale! Would it be possible to do a tutorial on movement/flow/composition sometimes in the future? It would be awesome, you are a master on that topic :)

Radka Kopecka (radu.k.art)

In the past months I would have prefered the third (bottom left), now everything feels like the fourth (bottom right) ☺️ It‘s very positive, or better „something‘s coming, could be good“ already in this sketch phase! 😊 But I like them all!

Sabrina Schmeing

The bottom right is absolutely stunning! And the perspective is cool !

Sophie Whitely

Bottom right😍

Petra Book

They're all brilliant! Top right and bottom right for me :)

Eunice Kim

Top right😍
