WIP // flow thumbnails
Added 2021-05-27 10:00:00 +0000 UTC
Some thumbnails for an upcoming painting! I want to make an underwater piece that has a high focus on flowing elements that add movement. I’ll be finalizing one of these in the coming months! Which one do you like the most?
The second has great potential for dramatic development

I think the bottom right one is the most compelling to me. :) I love the perspective and the flow, and i get a feeling of serenity from it, like that feeling of stillness when you are underwater, just below the surface, delighting in the colors and light.

I really love the first and the fourth ones the most. But I would really like to see how you approach doing the disturbed water effect around the girl's body in three. If I had to choose one, I would say the first. It seems like there's a story here. Like, what is she swimming down to? She looks like she's swimming with a purpose, you know?

For movement I like the bottom right. I feel like the others are at moments where they are pausing or gliding, the hand on the top left makes me feel like she's going a bit slowly. the one on the bottom right feels the most active to me and I also like the jellyfish lol. all are beautiful!

I can’t really pick one! All of them look really captivating and feels like a different emotion from the same character.
Honestly, I’d love to see all four as a exploration of grief. The top right looks like anger/fear. The bottom left looks like sinking into grief almost like the event just happened. The top left looks like bargaining a bit or another stage I’m forgetting the name of. And the bottom right looks like emergence/acceptance.

Bottom left – there is something a lot more dynamic in that pose that indicates some kind of a forceful, downward movement in the water. And depending on how you interpret it, it can create so many interesting nuances and different takes.
Of course, I'm looking at this and attaching your style to it and that helps me imagine the finished piece to a certain degree. I can't put my finger on it, but this is my fave out of all 4. :)
