BRUSHTOBER // self portrait

Diving deeper into the ink wash & ecoline for #brushtober! I found a box of ecoline inks from my art school years and discovered that they still work after 15 years, so I used some of them for this drawing!

It’s a self portrait, showing what my hair used to look like before the pandemic hit. I miss having blonde tips, but I’ve decided to wait until the pandemic is over to get my hair dyed again. So for now, this hairstyle is a distant memory which can only be re-lived through art 😂  still getting used to 'painting' rather than 'drawing' for this challenge, hope I find my flow!

Gorgeous 🧡🧡 love the colours

i'm definitely gonna wait til a hairdresser can do it. my hair is naturally super dark and hard to bleach right, and i don't trust myself to do it haha

Loish

i will film my process for future drawings! for this one I didn't, because I was struggling so much with the medium and filming adds to the stress haha!

Loish

it's a derwent colorsoft pencil!

Loish

What do you use for the initial sketch? Col-erase?

Sharon Tu

I love it. Thank you for sharing your gifts

Sharon Tu

so what paper are you using and what is that pen next to the watercolor brush? :)

Eddie Uresti

This is beautiful ♥️ Will you perhaps take a video while you paint and post it?

ah this is so cool! I love that you used dark ink for the line work, looks really awesome! And I feel you on the quarantine hair..not so much the dye, but I haven't had a haircut in 8 months -_-

Kat Craig

This is so beautiful, I love the vibrance of the colors 😍

Beautiful! I love the hair - it can be hard to get a fade to look right, especially in traditional, without making the hair look too flat, or conversely too piece-y. If you were doing your whole head blonde I'd say just do it at home - I recommend Wella bleach, it's super gentle and works very fast - but for doing faded tips that might be better to wait for a hairdresser unless you're already experienced with doing it alone xD

FaroreNightclaw

As serious as Loish.

Same. I wanna dye my hair green and blue but I'm waiting for my college to reopen
