In general, my sketching process is a lot about just getting the basic shapes down first and then deciding later on which areas I want to emphasize and which ones I just want to leave more simple. With these underwater hair sketches, I’m trying to find a balance of light/wispy with more solid, chunky shapes. Hope you enjoy!

2020-09-17 14:14:12 +0000 UTChmm, that's a tough question! i just tend to put down the line that 'feels' right! my motivation is always to capture movement. thicker lines tend to stop the movement, and smoother, thinner lines create more movement. so i tend to focus thicker lines in the area where i want people to look, and have softer lines moving outwards! it's a trial/error thing, just checking a lot what works and what doesn't.
