WIPS // standing wave
Added 2020-04-22 17:29:20 +0000 UTC
Thanks so much for all your feedback on the volcano piece! I’m feeling so inspired to finish one (or more) of them!
I did some more work on this series where I explore dream-like settings, this one features a wave that stays in place (sort of like those scenes from moana)! Here are three thumbnails. Which one do you guys think works best?
First and third for me🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯💗💗💗🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

I love 1 and 3 but if I have to pick one, then will be 3.

Hard to pick but I reckon 3!

I love the movement in #1.

ooo! I love the character moment with #2 - I would really love to see you capture that calm, serene state of sitting with the wave.

ashhh!!!....why!...the 3 of them are so perfect!....anyway...the 2nd one is like a poster of a movie...it feels like the backgound is huge in comparison with the woman on the front

Beautiful! I loved the first one, it looks like she is manipulating the water and making a path for herself

I think I would have to say number 3 has the most interesting compoition. Good balance and variety

I would have such a huge problem to choose o n ly i NE to work further on! The first one has such beautiful swirl composition, and it seems to be the most obvious choice. The second is not so obvious and it makes me stop at it a bit longer. I. The third the line of contrast between sjpky and water captivates eyes immediately. So Obviously, I am not helping :D

i think composition wise, i love the middle one most! and i love the more peaceful, resting vibe i get from it, rather than the more active poses of the other ones! favorite color scheme wise is the last one; those vibrant colors, especially all the different blues, are really speaking to me!
to be honest, these work really well as a set, since they go active-passive-active in my head? it feels like a kind of progression! but if i had to choose one, I'd choose the middle one.

Gorgeous seriously I choose all of them! So hard to pick!! 😍 but gosh darn it you are just so much art goals

I love all of them but if I had to choose one, I would choose 3. And I think that 1 looks more like an ice cave instead of wave :')

I prefer #1 =D
it looks like she is inside the wave and reaching out to break free

I like #3 the most. The wave almost carry away the character and that could give the scene a huge impact.

2020-04-23 09:41:51 +0000 UTC
haha that's how i feel once i finish them, because each one has something i like. but it would take a huuuuge amount of time.. unless i manage to find a faster workflow for these!!

that's a good one!!

that's a tough one because i do a lot of work where the copyright is with the company that i work for. i will reach out to some of my clients and ask if this is allowed :)

I think the second one seems a little ominous as the characters looking away from the oncoming wave. Definitely prefer the feeling of 1 or 3 🤩

Love them all but I prefer the first one!

This is really interesting to see! Is it possible for you to make a post about how you approach client work? That would help a lot!

I think I like the composition of the 2nd better, but the 3rd one with the wave going over the hand and the shadow and light coming across that end of the wave is way too intersting, I really want to see what you make of it! And god you're amazingly good at creating thumbnails like this and make the lighting and colors come across! Love it <3

Lol I like 1 only because it’s a little more peaceful

The third is my favorite. I really like the contrast between the wave and the sky.

1 or 3!
Andrea Bondelie
2020-04-23 00:44:48 +0000 UTC
My favorites are #1 and #3!!! I think 1 has more of a playful atmosphere where the wave appears to be standing in place. #3's atmosphere is more mysterious and dangerous but it doesn't appear as if the wave would be standing in place. #2 feels like she's about to be crushed XD so I guess with whatever you want to share with your audience!

Aghhhh i love the three of them. Number three is the one that gets the most to me, both 3 and 1 look playing with the wave but 3 also lets you see outside of it.

I'm feeling 2. I think the giant arc of the wave really frames the image. Honestly, I love all of them. Uses my favorite color so I can't resist ^ ^

All gorgeous but the first one on the left really catches my eye, I love the shape and composition of it.

I love the 3rd one!!

2020-04-22 20:55:52 +0000 UTC
I adore the 2nd but it could also be misconstrued as a wave that she doesn't notice is about to crash over her. they're each so rockin! but I'm gonna say 3rd for sure

I’m a sucker for transparencies so I’ll say the third, but I love all three as they are right now.

2020-04-22 20:30:33 +0000 UTC
I like the first one 😄 maybe where she touches the water it can split further in two, and we can see some sky.

They’re all great but I just love #1 - kinda reminds me of the surfing scene from Lilo and Stitch.

2020-04-22 19:37:11 +0000 UTC
I always had a thing for the under-the-wave-tunnel so I'll have to go with #1
Axel Oil
2020-04-22 19:22:21 +0000 UTC
I love them all but #1 gives the magical illusion since she is inside the wave being surrounded but not covered by the wave.
medusabubbles_47
2020-04-22 19:06:28 +0000 UTC
I love all of them but I think number 3 really captures the idea that the wave is frozen in place.
Keith Ward
2020-04-22 18:39:48 +0000 UTC
as in- if the wave in that one was coming towards the viewer with power, and then shes the middle ground focus point
Sophie Whitely
2020-04-22 18:36:35 +0000 UTC
#2, and #3 are really nice, #3 with the curve of the wave playing with the foreground and background of the wave vs the subject could look really cool
Sophie Whitely
2020-04-22 18:35:56 +0000 UTC
So beautiful! Love the color and graphic simplicity! I could totally see this as a three piece framed art set all side by side on my living room wall exactly the way you have it arranged 😃

All great concept sketches. Not to be contrary, but I like #2. The sitting figure is kind of a paradox against the power of the waves. Perhaps some more work with values in the upper part? Maybe even bring in the waves in the top of #1? Shall I knock off the technical remarks? just say so.

Wow! The 1st one!!!!
Desi NN
2020-04-22 17:46:41 +0000 UTC
oh i adore these! there's something unique and interesting about all of them, but i'm really drawn to the shape and color of the crested wave on the third thumbnail

2020-04-22 17:35:47 +0000 UTC
Wow! I’m impressed by all of them. In my opinion the first one shows the person strongest, but the composition and wave in the third are really blowing me off my socks. Especially clear in tiny resolution: the third just jumps out because of the interesting contrast and composition.

2020-04-22 17:35:42 +0000 UTC
Stunning! I can't Say which of them I live the most. The First One reminds me something like an inner Water Cave (like an hidden one). The second one express Power and desire. The last one gives me the sound of the Sea, like a never-stopping wave.

Wow Loish, you strikes again! This is breathtaking !

2020-04-22 17:33:29 +0000 UTC
Once again, I love all of them. If you want to play with how water can resemble a cave, the first might be best to work with; otherwise, the second.
Karen A. Wyle
2020-04-22 17:32:31 +0000 UTC
I think the composition of the second piece is the most interesting, but they are all lovely.
