Thank you for your quick reply! :) , that't what I'm doing and I also tried turning off the texture on the macalabs brush when I work some details but for most of my paintings I definitely work on details with the hard round brush.

hey! yes this was drawn in procreate and mostly with maxpacks gouache clean. in photoshop i would definitely use the macalabs brush for the sketch, but for color and detailing i would switch to a generic hard round brush. macalabs pencil isn't great for painting / detailing!

Loish

Hi Loish, I love this piece, specially how expressive are the lines. at first I thought it was with the macalabs brush and I tried to work like this in Photoshop but now I see it was with Procreate. One question: is there any way to use macalabs brush like this?, I tried to use it and is a wonderful brush to make sketches but when I try to work into details (smaller strokes), the brush looks too texturized and details don't look very good.

Garciartist

Thank you for the answer! I guess it's the same with the character's face features. Figuring out what shapes to use and then drawing the character many times till it gets consistent.

Nicoe

thank you! it's mostly a question of figuring out which basic shapes to use. if you can keep those shapes consistent, the details tend to fall into place! there's more info on that here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/step-by-step-34737878

How do you manage to draw the same character multiple times, especialy the face? It's a big struugle to me. It would be tramendlesly helpful if you make a post with tips for consisten characters and character desighn over all. It's my most favourite part of your work.

I want to become this fluid with my line work, your expressions are fantastic!

the flow of the lines is absolutely spectacular !

so glad you enjoyed it! it's never too late to learn and figure out a way to find your own creative flow and passion. who knows what will grow out of it? i know plenty of people whose career took an unexpected turn later in their life!

Loish

yep haha, i think no matter what your skill level, you'll always feel some degree of struggle.

Loish

I love the fierceness of the expressions in these!

Nice! I was using the other expressions video you posted as inspo to practice myself. I struggled but that's the grind right? Haha!

beautiful, Loish. Also, your talk was great yesterday. While I've been a creative in one way or another, I've always had problems with my art being flat and/or comparing myself to others. I really appreciated you addressing that as it's a huge thorn in my side (also "age" plays into things as I'm a tad older and have been taking the past 2 years seriously to learn and can see people decades younger draw circles around me).
