STEP BY STEP // mushroom
Added 2019-12-18 19:32:58 +0000 UTCHere’s some of the steps for one of my recent paintings: Mushroom! I was initially inspired by photos of pink oyster mushrooms. They looked so beautiful and strange, and a bit like flower petals, which I tried to capture in my painting. I worked on it for a while but then it ended up being ignored for a couple of months; when I got back to it I felt like it was just too smooth so I went for a ‘chunkier’ kind of shading. I also struggled a lot with the mushrooms, trying to get the right sense of rythm and depth in them. You can see that I changed those around quite a lot!
