Band Girls’ Mixology Mission [194]

"Soyo, stop squirming around. If you keep it up, I won't let you sit on my lap anymore."

Kikukawa Kyo made a small protest against Soyo's provocative movements, but there was no real force behind it. To Soyo's ears, it was an entirely painless warning.

Yet, surprisingly, this made Soyo reconsider her teasing of Kyo.

Though Kyo appeared soft and fragile right now, easily manipulated by others, Soyo vividly remembered the enormous pressure Kyo had once exerted on her. She didn't dare risk even the slightest possibility of alienating Kyo.

Besides, there was no need to hurry. Soyo already held the key information. All she needed now was to wait for the perfect moment—preferably when she and Kyo were alone…

It wasn’t like she planned on doing anything too outrageous; she just wanted to have playful little interactions with Kyo, the way genuine sisters might.

"Alright, alright, I'll behave."

Soyo obediently continued sitting on Kyo’s lap, clearly feeling the contact beneath her even through her skirt.

Kyo's thighs weren't exactly soft; in fact, as Soyo carefully felt them beneath her, they were actually a bit too slender. It made her worry if Kyo was getting enough nutrition in her daily meals.

Kyo-chan is already thin enough. She should definitely eat more, put on just a little extra weight. She'd look much healthier and livelier, far better than those girls blindly pursuing that so-called "bony beauty."

Thinking about this, Soyo suddenly worried if perhaps she was a bit too heavy for Kyo.

Although Soyo proudly claimed that her mostly vegetarian, low-meat diet was very healthy, somehow she'd ended up developing quite a... well, quite a "meaty" body.

Setting aside the fact that even within Tsukinomori, she regularly attracted envious looks from certain ojou-samas who were unfortunately lacking in certain areas, many girls often approached her under various pretexts, curious about what she ate or if she had special "exercise" tips.

But Soyo’s well-developed areas certainly weren't limited to just one spot.

As this thought crossed her mind, Soyo's body suddenly stiffened. She didn't dare move her lower body even slightly, terrified that the smallest movement might make Kyo think she was excessively "heavy."

Kyo-chan… surely she doesn't think I'm some kind of indecent girl...?

No matter how perceptive Kyo might usually be at guessing people's thoughts, she still needed enough observational information beforehand.

Right now, all Kyo could tell was that after she’d told Soyo to stop squirming, Soyo had inexplicably gone rigid following a brief pause. Even the soft weight pressing gently onto her thighs had suddenly turned tense, hardening uncomfortably.

She didn't need to get this nervous, did she? Kyo didn't think she'd used a particularly serious tone or strict wording just now.

Back during Kyo’s three years of junior-high "model training," although there'd been several girls in her class who enjoyed telling risqué jokes, everyone had unanimously agreed to maintain a proper, obedient image whenever Kyo was around.

As her ex-girlfriend had once teasingly explained to her, "Everyone sees Kyo-chan as pure and clear as water—they don’t dare 'pollute' you."

But unquestionably, Kyo actually understood far more than any of them thought. Yet precisely because of this, she lacked certain common data within her internal "model."

As a result, she completely failed to grasp that Soyo’s sudden stiffness was due entirely to Soyo’s own embarrassing thoughts.

Kyo asked directly, "What's wrong, Soyo? Are you feeling nervous?"

Right now, Kyo assumed Soyo was nervous simply because she didn’t know how to relay her message to Sakiko.

"Ah, I am a little nervous…" But her nervousness was absolutely unrelated to what Kyo imagined. Soyo shyly brushed her hair back, sneaking a glance at Kyo from the corner of her eyes. "Does Kyo-chan think I'm too heavy?"

Kyo tilted her head, puzzled, shaking it slightly. So that was all she'd been concerned about?

"Not at all. Soyo clearly has such a nice figure, yet you don't feel heavy at all. Instead, you're exactly the kind of comfortable firmness that makes you really nice to hug."

At this, Kyo pinched her own waist lightly through her uniform, "I hardly have any meat here."

"I don't have any extra fat on my waist either! It's just..."

All the extra meat ended up exactly where it was supposed to.

Soyo felt compelled to defend her similarly slim waist. Yet, after hearing Kyo’s words, her heart still fluttered happily. "Comfortable firmness that's nice to hug…" Did that mean Kyo would feel very comfortable holding her?

"Soyo, Kyo-chan, aren't you two enjoying yourselves a little too much right now?"

Sakiko, who had been left to the side for quite some time, now spoke with a seemingly gentle smile. Her eyes formed cheerful crescent moons as she smiled, yet inexplicably it felt like hidden behind her back was a concentrated killing intent akin to a lurking ghost.

Indeed, Sakiko at this moment was like a ninja assassin concealing blades in her eyes: open her eyes, and someone dies; close her eyes, and heads have already rolled. With sins as heavy as Shura’s and a soul like that of a ghostly demon, how could these two powerless girls hope to resist the bloody storm of interrogation about to descend upon them?

Fortunately, Miss Sakiko was ultimately just an ordinary working-class girl who had prematurely stepped into the workforce—a slave to her part-time job—and simultaneously a student-slave burdened by endless academic demands. How could she genuinely radiate such murderous intent?

With a sigh brimming with helplessness, Sakiko looked at these two girls who were currently fooling around senselessly in front of her:

"Regardless of how you view me now, Soyo—whether you want to completely cut ties or something else—we should probably resolve things soon, right?"

"As for me… sigh… thanks to Kyo, I've finally realized there are some things I should clearly explain to you and to everyone else."

Sakiko opened her eyes—fortunately, the ninja assassin had vanished—and her golden pupils gazed directly into Soyo’s eyes. This look reminded Soyo of that rainy day, of Sakiko standing miserably drenched.

But unlike back then, when Sakiko’s gaze had wavered anxiously, full of hesitation and confusion about her unclear future, the current Sakiko—although still soaked from the rain—no longer appeared pathetic. Instead, she radiated a certain resolute strength.

Was this change also because of Kyo-chan? Soyo wondered silently.

If so, it wasn't difficult to understand anymore why Sakiko had openly confessed her feelings to Kyo earlier.
