Who Can Resist Nakano Nino? [155]
Added 2025-10-25 07:08:59 +0000 UTCThe days slipped by quickly, and before Shirase realized it, Saturday had arrived—and with it, the start of May.
The week had been packed to the brim for him. Between soccer club training, academics, and practicing massage techniques every night, he barely had time to breathe.
On top of that, he’d met with Nakano Maruo to settle the details of his tutoring job.
Surprisingly, that part went smoothly. Nakano Maruo understood Shirase’s circumstances well and didn’t demand daily sessions. Four days a week was plenty—and, naturally, payment would be settled each time.
Shirase handed all the money to Kojima Kana, since he had little need for it himself.
Kana was overjoyed. Practically bouncing with energy, she teased, “So, does this make me your official Financial Director now, instead of just Kana-nee?”
“How did you even combine the words financial and director?” Shirase asked, genuinely puzzled.
“Something like that,” Kana said cheerfully, waving off the question before skipping off to stash the money away.
After finishing his prep and packing his teaching materials, Shirase left for the Nakano residence.
It was Sunday, so there was no soccer practice—just tutoring “work.”
Yotsuba greeted him at the door, bright and cheerful as always. “You’re here early! Ichika’s still sleeping. Want me to wake her up?”
Shirase switched shoes and smiled. “No need. I’ll wake her myself in a bit.”
He knew full well that Ichika wouldn’t wake up early on a day off unless a shoot required it.
Just then, Nino stepped out of her room wearing workout clothes.
The instant she saw Shirase, her face lit up—then quickly calmed into a soft, composed smile. “You’re early.”
“It’s already 9:05. Not early at all. Stay in bed any longer and the sunlight’ll roast your butt,” Shirase said dryly after glancing at the time.
Nino’s face reddened instantly. “Do you hear yourself when you talk?”
“Isn’t that kind of weird?” Yotsuba whispered curiously. “Boys don’t usually say things like that to girls…”
“I only say stuff like that to Nino,” Shirase replied casually.
Nino froze. She wasn’t sure whether to be flattered or exasperated.
Soon after, Miku and Itsuki appeared in the living room. Only Ichika was missing.
Shirase looked around at the four gathered sisters. “Since I’ll be tutoring till afternoon today, I’ll handle lunch, too.”
“Really?” Itsuki’s eyes instantly sparkled. She tried to keep her composure, but her clenched fists betrayed her excitement.
Nino shot her a look. “Can you not get so excited every time he mentions food? Have a little dignity.”
If only I’d dropped the act sooner… Itsuki lamented inwardly but managed a calm nod. “Then how about I help with lunch prep?”
“I bet you just want to sneak bites,” Miku murmured, side-eying her.
Itsuki’s blush gave her away instantly. That was exactly her plan.
Shirase didn’t seem to mind. “Anyone can help. Oh, and the snacks are honey cake and matcha soda.” He pointed to a bag on the sofa.
“Matcha soda?” Miku’s head snapped up.
Yotsuba blinked, remembering. “Ah! Miku bought that the other day!”
Itsuki glanced at Nino. She expected her sister to question him—but Nino stayed silent, watching Shirase with calm eyes.
Is this her aura now? Itsuki thought. If it were me, I’d have blurted out a dozen questions already.
“Exactly,” Shirase said. “Matcha soda. I did some checking and realized Miku’s pretty fond of that flavor… and green tea too.”
Miku’s face reddened. “H-how did you even find that out?”
Nino narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “Don’t tell me you’re giving her special treatment again?”
“Again?” Miku asked, confused.
Yotsuba and Itsuki exchanged puzzled glances. Only Shirase and Nino knew the truth—that Miku had once received extra tutoring behind everyone’s backs.
Now, Nino’s tone carried a subtle trace of jealousy.
Shirase smiled softly. “After reviewing the practice tests from last time, I noticed Miku’s progress was a bit behind. Not by much—just by my standards. It’s not that she hasn’t been studying.”
Miku’s fingers tightened against the fabric of her black tights.
Yotsuba tilted her head. “If Miku’s behind, wouldn’t a normal tutor punish her?”
“Since when did you think I was a normal tutor?” Shirase asked, striking an overly confident pose.
Yotsuba blinked. “Who admits that so proudly?”
“He’s just… self-aware,” Nino said dryly. “Like a dog who takes its own leash for a walk. Top-tier self-management.”
Privately, she added, He’s actually just a pervert with a leg fixation.
Shirase turned to Miku, speaking with quiet sincerity. “There’s no need to feel embarrassed. You’ve only just started. What matters isn’t whether you disappoint me—it’s that you don’t disappoint your sisters.”
At the mention of her family, Miku drew a steadying breath. Determination flickered in her eyes. “I understand.”
“Good.” Shirase nodded. “Now, I’ll go wake Ichika.”
“I’ll come too,” Nino said, following close behind.
Once they were out of the living room, Shirase dropped his voice. “My acting was decent, right?”
Nino rolled her eyes. “Not bad. At least you didn’t blow our cover.”
“Perfect. Miku’s taken the bait. She’ll be extra motivated now. But if she ends up leaving you behind, I’ll have to spank you.”
“You wouldn’t dare!”
Her face flushed bright red as she playfully punched his shoulder.
Earlier that morning, they had gone over their plan together.
In truth, Miku’s progress wasn’t lagging—she’d actually improved a lot.
But among the quintuplets, she was the most distant from Shirase. So to keep her engaged, a little “performance” had been necessary.
The act went off flawlessly—none of the others had suspected a thing.
Shirase knocked on Ichika’s bedroom door. Predictably, no answer.
“Knocking’s pointless. Even if she’s awake, she won’t get up,” Nino muttered before pushing the door open.
The light flicked on, revealing a disaster zone. Clothes—underwear included—were scattered across the floor, and empty drink cans piled up in corners.
“Ugh… you woke me again…”
Bundled up in her blankets, Ichika peeked her head out, her sleepy smile still beautiful despite the bedhead. “Nino, five more minutes, okay? Just five.”
