That was not only a classic, but a classic epic. I saw this in 1968 when it came out in the theaters. Clint Eastwood was in 3 previous westerns directed by Sergio Leone, as the man with no name. those 3 movies were shot in Spain and Italy, and were called spaghetti westerns. They were very popular, and Sergio Leone made enough money to make this classic movie with a big budget and excellent music. Clint Eastwood made enough money to start directing his own movies. Play Misty for Me was a hit for Clint in 1971, and Clint played the lead role in Dirty Harry. Both movies came out in 1971, and led to a series of Dirty Harry movies throughout the 1970's. Both Play Misty for Me, and Dirty Harry, would be good movies to react to. Both were very popular, and were set in circa 1971 San Francisco.
