Part 2 of the Longer Reaction to The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies

It had to come. Some parts are good, but there’s too many inserted characters and video gamey CGI action moments. Legolas jumps on falling rocks like Super Mario Brothers (I wish they’d stop doing that!) Quicksilver jumped on pieces of falling debris in one of those awful Xmen movies too. That’s NOT COOL LOOKING! and super speed should not be filmed in slow motion. Next, Galadriel went into her Dark Mode again, for no reason really other than it was one of the beats from LOTR. And then she got tired afterwards (for what?) to show her range of acting/ emotions 🤔 she was slightly out of breath after being tempted by the One Ring. I remember every second of the original movies. Do you think I DON’T? Smaug the dragon didn’t ever talk THAT much. He never said the name Thorin Oakenshield— super mega awesome drama did. They did DRAMA 😱 when I saw behind the scenes: Benedict Cumberbatch crawling along on his belly in motion capture gear I thought- WTF! Are you guys even doing?? Trying to recapture that special Gollum CG magic ya did BEFORE but looking a lot stupider this time. The way they keep speaking Orc language seemed overembellisihed. After a while I’m like STFU! I already said, when the pale Orc bursts out of the ice, it’s like Jason Voorheese or Freddy Krueger and I wish he just drowned-ded under water. Because he was a big nothing all along. Beorn the were-bear would have ripped Azog to shreds in the first movie! Had he even supposed to been there in the first place... in the book, it says Beorn followed behind the traveling dwarves- protecting them. I like that. In LOTR terms, he is like the substitute for Tom Bombadil of this story. Lastly, when Bard shoved pieces of a broken bow into wood beams of a bell tower to shoot down Smaug, he used his bare hands and no tools 🤥 he must be Superman. If you know anything about wood and tools, you CANT DO THAT! It would just fall apart. They should have used that big ballista arrow launcher it kept showing! Would that be subverting expectations? Bad bad choices all over the place. In the book, it was just a special arrow, color- black, and a regular bow. Nothing too amazing. The last charge of the dwarves was supposed to be like Theoden, Aragorn, and company charging out of Helms Deep. Except the dwarves in the Hobbit, only 13– would be obliterated in a real situation of waaaaaaaR. 🤭 definitely wouldn’t turn the tide of the battle OF 5 Warhammer armies
