How to Use the CAGED System to Play EVERY Major Chord

Hello friends,

Welcome back to Swift Guitar Lessons for another rhythm guitar tutorial. One of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal as rhythm and lead guitarist is the CAGED system. This simple method of visualizing the fretboard allows guitarist to play every chord triad in five positions, while also revealing overlapping scales for easy lead work. In today's session we'll employ the CAGED system to unlock major chords up and down the neck. Let's get started!

"TUBEyou" - good one!!!

Hi .. I’m NOODLES from the UK.. I’ve been observing Robs work on Tubeyou for a while and have finally joined you guys.. Hopefully your continued teaching will help me to support you by return by becoming a better patreon myself…

Hey Rob, Happy Holidays and thank you for another great lesson! I think I get the general concept of the different chord voicings according to CAGED, and I realize you have some older lessons on this which will be good to review. But can you give any pointers on how the scale patterns can be brought into the picture in the CAGED system? I think I'm almost on to it - for example, that in the G-shape chords, you are in that "first" pentatonic box (looking to the left though). I'm guessing the other scale shapes involve just memorizing where the root note is and which scale pattern applies to that chord shape? Thanks again!
