Elvis "That's Alright" Scotty Moore Guitar Solo Lesson

Hello friends,

Welcome back to Swift Guitar Lessons for another lead guitar tutorial. Well before Hendrix and Clapton wowed audiences with their psychedelic brand of blues rock, guitar legend Scotty Moore helped lay the foundation for all that was to come. Today, let's dig into his go-to tricks as we master his iconic solo from "That's Alright, Mama."

This solo will serve as an excellent introduction to double-stops, major pentatonic licks, travis style fingerpicking, and melodic ideas that seamlessly follow the 1.4.5 progression. Let's get started!

Great lesson ! I have been playing That’s Allright Mama for years, but never with the solo part. Thank you Rob

👏🏻 great stuff! Can you do a tutorial for ‘in the ghetto’ 🫶🏻

This is fantastic. Any chance you could teach the complete song?

Most cool. Been practicing this for 3 days. Travis on the D9 is definitely a challenge but spot on advice Rob about practicing again and again to get pattern into muscle memory. Takes awhile but starting to sound like Elvis might approve.

Love this!

what pedals/affects would you recommend to get close to that sound

Why is play back keeps stopping?.

Hey Rob, I was finally able to get the tab printed out. I went into my printer settings and selected an option called, perform image correction. Thank you for the tip.

Thanks Bob, figuring out tunes becomes easier with experience, but I almost always slow the track down in garage band or Logic Pro so that I can pick out the more subtle bits. Occasionally I'll look to live performance footage if I'm really stumped or convinced that what I'm hearing is the product of studio magic.

Hey Shawn, it seems to be working fine on my printer. Perhaps go into your print settings and see how the document is being displayed. Let me know if you figure this out. Thanks. -Rob

I am amazed you can figure that out!

Printer is rolling out a blank page for this pdf. Is there a problem with the file? I just printed out two other pdf lessons but this one isn't printing.
