This is reminding me of a David Rakoff interview with Terry Gross where he described why he wasn't trying for acting roles anymore. He said he, a gay Jewish man, only ever was called for two roles: 1.) Jewy McHebrew, or 2.) Fudgy McPacker. I think this was around the same era. So. A Mc(Something) may well have been a general commentary on corporate sameness / blandness / unimaginative ness? (Typing this about halfway thru, can't wait to find out you already got there by the end)
