The sharp crack of a pool cue against the cue ball could be heard over the sound of laughter, cursing, other ponies playing games, and music booming from the jukebox. Then as if being controlled by some type arcane magic the cue ball slowly backed up toward the alicorn.

"Oh I had a pool table installed in the palace oh let's see, um, uh, about a 200 years ago. So I've gotten lots of practice, but its more fun to play a game against another pony. However at the moment none of the Royal Guard assigned to the palace are any good at it. Same with my current cabinet. So I will slip out of the palace a few times a year to find some suitable opponents at various bars and pool halls in Canterlot."
