Deep Soil BG + general updates

Hey everyone. Been a while since we had an actual update, huh? Apologies for how short this one is, but I figured it was about time I showed SOMETHING off.

As you can see from the attached image, I've finished implementing the new background for the Deep Soil that Redd did before she left. I was TRYING to get the collision tiles reworked to her new tiles too, but after a few hours of effort, I've come to the conclusion that they're unfinished to the point of being unusable. Either I'm going to have to scrap them entirely, or get someone on the team to rework and complete them. Well, at least the background looks nice.

As for me, I've been (slowly) working on re-coding the collision engine, along with all of the hiccups that brings. Crisis Point didn't exactly have a good collision engine before, and it's come back to bite me in the ass a bit - lots of stuff broke when I moved over to the new engine, so I've just been testing the game out and trying to solve every issue that cropped up. It's making good progress though, and I should be done fixing it up pretty soon so I can move on to other things.

In other news, we have a new addition to the team! It's not a tileset artist, we're still looking for one of those, but while looking for someone to take over Redd's job I was contacted by Green Iniquities, who has since been hired on as Crisis Point's official sound designer. No longer am I confined to royalty free sound effects, huzzah! Don't worry, most of the old sound effects won't be changing - especially not iconic ones like Alicia's default blaster - but he'll be working to add a bunch of NEW sounds to the game (like unique sounds for every blaster chip upgrade), as well as replacing some of the older ones I'm not so happy with. He's already delivered over a dozen sounds to me, so I'm expecting to see the list filled out pretty quickly! We take one step closer to being a quality game every day :')
