You may have noticed that she's wearing an inhibitor ring. I imagine that unicorns would have to wear those to avoid magical manipulation and cheating. At least in events where they are competing alongside earth and pegasus ponies.

And there are events that are specifically unicorns only where their magic is a critical part of the performance.

2024-07-31 18:23:58 +0000 UTCI recall in the show they had an episode with Equestria's equivalent of the Olympics, and they had unicorns go through a device that resembled a metal detector that would nullify unicorn magic. Granted this was for the spectators and participants were still allowed to use levitation abilities.

We know that flight magic is at least as important as flight muscles, so what if a pegasus had mastered their flight magic well enough that they can go WELL over the bar without spreading their wings? I.e. is there an 'inhibitor ring" for pegasi?
