Air dodge

So, I'm considering removing the 'air dodge' ability. I initially thought of it to give Alicia more options for dodging attacks, but now that the combat is starting to come together, I don't really think she needs it. Double jumping and sliding give her a lot of mobility as is, and the air dodge would serve no purpose other than just for dodging attacks. I don't think it's really a necessary addition, and it also means I have to balance monsters around that additional ability. It would also simplify the control scheme a tad. So, to my Patrons, I ask this question: do any of you think you would really miss it? I know it wasn't in-game yet, but I'm heavily leaning towards scrapping it.

I would probably agree with others here and say that the air dodge is likely not necessary. I think an airslide would be cool though.

I'm pointing out the obvious here when I say that I haven't seen the up to date combat. I'll continue my obvious thoughts by typing it should depend on the level of difficulty whether the "air dodge" is removed. If you're planning on making us spam two buttons for the majority of the duration combat lasts, making the game simple to navigate, and possibly only fighting a maximum of 2 enemy's at the once. Then, yes, the "air dodge" probably wont be needed for combat? I'll also trust you're judgement as corpDemon has

In a 2d scrolling game I really don't think air dodge is necessary. I like the slide that she already does and Alice can have different weapons for her secondary slot so you can use a good offensive instead of having another way to dodge.

Thanks for the trust, mang. I'll wait to hear some more opinions before making my final decision, but it's likely that I'll go ahead and scrap it. Also - everyone has their own opinions. I love smash as a party game, but you don't have to like it just 'cause it's popular. No respectable person would look down on ya for it.

if you didnt once think it necessary or even thought about it, i trust your judgement that it definetly isnt necessary. p.s. i know i am in the vast minority but i hate smash bros, more specifically its bullshit death/victory system and the controls, more of a mortal kombat fan...and it didnt have aerial dodge...

I haven't actually coded it in or animated it yet, lol. I had planned on adding it for this update, but I've been playing around and testing the combat over the last few days, and I've never once said "the air dodge would have been useful just now," so I never felt the need to work on it. It kinda just feels complete as is. Think of Super Smash Bros, how when you press the shield button in midair, your character does a little animation and becomes invincible for a moment. That's basically all it was.

air dodging? how will that work? how about you release a .gif of it happening. unless it's like a picked up ability with a cooldown, like some aerial dash to reach tricky hidden places, i think we can easily do without it
