Standing Watch

A patron reward for Jesse Vance. They asked me to draw my favorite female raccoon character of mine Jessica Knight in a rather steam punk setting. FYI. the weapon Jessica is holding is carbine variant of the Bergmann No.5 1897. It's a very unusual pistol/carbine that uses a side tilting locking mechanism. If you're interested Ian McCollum at Forgotten Weapons did a video on it. Link

This Saturday 6/12/21 starting at 5:30pm Pacific I'll streaming on Picarto. This will be an all genie themed stream. So join me for an evening of art, stories, and a really big D&D report. See you there!

BTW, what's in the holster, another Bergmann? Share ammo I guess.

The film is set in a notional 1909. One of the jokes was the "Bergmann 1911" which had some problems, according to the plot, i.e., a tendency to go full auto. The premise is the contrast of all the "New" tech, cars, new guns represtened by the sons and the rangers, and "Old School" represented by Wayne. afun film, with so many familiar faces. 'Axe

The Bergmann was a plot gimmick in the John Wayne flik "Big Jake". Not a real one, too expensive even for Hollyweird, but a dummied up Wather P=38. Looked rether good ,though. when the question of "How" was asked, " preproduction prototype, we're stockholders." 'Axe

Been ages since we've seen her.

Thwaitesy

Not a bad guess, and Mauser 06/08 is on my list of firearms I want to draw.

7.8mm by 25mm. 1300 fps velocity. A hard hitter. Very reliable. The weapon was actually designed by Louis Schmeisser and was built by Bergmann. Hugo Schmeisser (his son) gained later fame for the StG44.

Vet

Mistook it for a steampunk'd Mauser 06/08 at a glance.

Great work Baron.
