Lightning and sunshine. B/W lighting study
Added 2019-12-16 01:36:40 +0000 UTCBefore I begin on a color piece I will often do a relatively tight B/W drawing to work out how lighting will interact with characters or objects in the piece.
This is drawing is one of those drawings. It's for a commission and it's of Lightning Dust doing what pegasus ponies love to do. Fly. To dance amongst the clouds and upon the wind. Either alone or with other ponies. In my Equestria dreamscape it's one of the things I enjoy the most.

2019-12-16 10:43:53 +0000 UTCFlying is probably both enjoyable and a way for pegasi to release stress. It would make sense given how much Rainbow, Lightning and other pegasi spend in the sky. Even a primarily groundbound pegasus, like Fluttershy spends time in the sky. I like how the light diffusion on the shaded side has portions which are lighter in the light diffusioned shaded side. I find that it is a detail that is often overlooked when doing shading.
