Rainbow Dash banked hard and dove for Fluttershy's cottage on the edge of the Everfree Forest. Pegasus ponies are as a general rule more resistant to temperature than other ponies, but even RD would admit that today was a cooker. Even the sanctuary of her cloud home floating high above the valley floor had not spared the mare from the scorching summer heat. Finally she decided if she was going to be miserable she'd rather have company. She'd discussed visiting Fluttershy's place earlier in the week so she decided to act.
The prismatic maned mare landed and sauntered up to the front door and knocked. When several attempts failed to produce results she started wandering around the property. She figured her longtime friend was either taking care of her animals or tending to her garden. The animal pens were generally quiet. The various critters she took care of had obviously decided that making was too much effort to make noise and had retreated to what shade they could find to ride out the afternoon heat. However the yellow chiffon mare wasn't here.
The sound of water splashing sent Dash searching for its origin. Coming around the back of the cottage RD stopped suddenly her tracks. The source of the splashing water was immediately obvious; Fluttershy stood there holding a bucket upside down over her head. Water still dripped and flowed over the contours of her body. The Element of Kindness's eyes were closed as she took long, deep breathes. Muddy slip-on sandal, soggy, cutoff denim shorts, and a thoroughly drenched white baby doll t-shirt kept the mare company, and as she lowered her arms RD could plainly see her friend wasn't wearing a bra under her shirt.
For several seconds Fluttershy seemed to be unaware of her friend's presence. Then she opened her eyes and saw her.
"Oh! Rainbow Dash! I didn't hear you arrive. How are you doing today?"
The Element of Loyalty forced herself to look in her friend's eyes. "Uh, Fluttershy. What are you doing.?"
Her friend turned to face her and smiled. "Oh, I've been working in the garden, and I was trying to cool off. Even with cutoffs and a baby doll I was hot."
The weather pony nodded her head. "Yes. You are hot."
A smile slowly spread across the mare's face. "Um, Rainbow Dash. I was thinking of taking a break and having some ice cream. I made it myself; um, would you like some as well?"
The light Cerulean Blue mare once again nodded her head. "Yes please."
Miles away in another cottage a white unicorn mare sat on the floor of the cottage with her legs crossed and eyes closed. Slowly Petina opened her eyes and smiled.
"Well done padawan. You are learning quickly." She whispered softly.
This is one of the pieces I will have next week at Bronycon 2018 along with lots more art. Drop by the Roan RPG booth at Table #419 and say hi.
