So you probably saw the letter from Patreon announcing their changes to the website, with regards to your pledges.
Traditionally, Creators such as myself got about 70% of the pledge money because Patreon keeps a percentage to run the site, so that their workers and CEOs could make a living, for legal stuff, etc. The percentage is based on the card transactions, as well. After lots of protests, Patreon now wants creators like myself to walk away with closer to 90% of the pledges to be more fair. But they still need something to keep the site going. So they made the following changes:
So starting December 18th, they will be applying 2 fees.... a 2% fee to your pledges plus a $0.35 creator fee that helps close the gap.
Now before you freak out, remember that almost all of you, with an exception of a few, are pledging just $1. That means I have been getting an estimated 70 cents this whole time. A 2% fee on your pledge of $1 will be.... just $0.02.... yes, 2 cents more. So don't freak out. Even if you're pledging $5, your fee will be just 5 cents. Add that to the 35 cents creator fee, and instead of being charged $1, you will be charged $1.38 cents.
I hope this doesn't scare too many of you away. I mean we are only talking about pennies here. But this really does help me out more. Because with 169 Patrons, 99% who are giving $1, this will add up and be more fair for me!
I wanted to make this clear because some of you were a bit confused by their letter. Don't worry, you won't be charged . And I'm still keep my Patreon as low as possible, lower than a coffee, a cheeseburger, or a candy bar at the grocery store. So I hope this helps... but.... thank YOU for helping ME!!!! :) <3
If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments or message me privately! <3 More videos are on the way. I'm still cleaning the apartment so that I can do a nice house tour for you guys. Unfortunately I was thrown off from my trip to the capitol and now during raining seasons, there is always a mess to worry about. Stay tuned! :)
