2025-05-23 03:06:31 +0000 UTCYeah, this one was one of those goldilocks "just right" moments, there had been intense MG series before this but they were largely a little too saccharine and sweet, after this blew up they went way in the other direction with magical girl site and magical girl raising project and such where it was all ultra horrifically violent and depressing just for violence and depression sake, this one though, it's sad, you know there's violence but it's mainly implied, it's dark but there's hope there, it's not too hot, it's not too cold, it's just right.

Someone said this was the evangelion of magical girls but i always kind of thought of this as more akin to what the watchmen graphic novel was to the silver age of comics. Whatever people say about the characters choices, these are young teens not lawyers reading over a contract, who of us wasn't gullible or impulsive when we were kids, and then you're fighting in some nightmare world for life and death stakes, how do you even deal with that kind of thing when you're 14 or 15? Loving the reactions so far, really cool to see you react to the old school seminal classics
