Specifically, the "mao" in maomao's name (猫) means "cat" but the "mao" in the cat's name (毛) refers to fur. So the cat's name is something like "furry" or "fuzzy."

2025-01-20 03:32:58 +0000 UTC"Mao" is the Chinese word for cat! It's literally like naming a dog, "dogdog." Also, "Xiao" means Small or little so when Goushwin started calling her "Xiaomao," it's like little cat. I love all these little details! :D
