First, Merry Christmas to all. Second: After talking with Al, Emilia was very confident that her msg would reach Subaru. That confidence is what she was surprised about. Now the why that could be is the object of one of the oldest speculative theories in Re:Zero. You were very close to the, speculated, "why" without knowing it :P

Its crazy the amount of feats Subaru has done, and how many people respect and rely on him despite being the weakest among them. His name has been spreading across the country ever since he helped take down the White Whale and personally defeated Petelgeuse. The man is a hero and a legend of inspiration BECAUSE of how weak he is and "nothing special." We all proud of our boyy. I think that's what makes Re:Zero so great. The show and the world in general is totally brutal, unfair and cruel. But despite being a despair ridden show, its also one of the greatest stories of hope and self improvement I've ever seen.
