Probably for max impact in Season 2. While I don't hate those tropes as much as you (clarification - I hate them as much as you do, it's just a difference in frequency). And yes, this Season could have used Episode 13 more than most Anime, to put it mildly. I don't use "It's Anime so it's okay" saying. I do use "It's fiction and fiction explores variety of tropes", but this sadly doesn't defend this DanDaDan episode. Knowledge that Momo is going to be fine (I mean she's an MC if not THE MC) obviously alleviates some concerns I would have, but this leads me to my pet theory. Either there were supposed to be 13 episodes and production was told too late that it will be 12. Or that there was supposed to be Season 1 Cour 2 in the Winter Season (It feels a bit different when resolution is 3 weeks away, instead of 6,5 months away). Still great episode and the only other reason why I'd think they split it this way (which isn't exclusive - it could be a mish-mash of other two as well) would sadly be a spoiler. But to me it smells with production problems that showed to late to correct them. Thank You for your reaction. One of currently 3 reactors I can watch anything with and it's going to be fun.
