Seeing the little ones grow up is what REALLY hit me that Fruits Basket was actually close to being over, not just Momiji but Hiro and Kisa too are much more mature than when we had first met them // Momiji though...glowing up in every way imaginable, like you said Momiji is truly the best imo episode 5 is one of the best in the entire series because it's basically Fruits Basket condensed into 20 minutes // the thought that Momiji is free now should be a happy thing, but instead he is greeted by vulnerability and losing his place to belong // except he HAS found a place to belong (Tohru), BUT he cannot seek her out in the way he wants to // his pain truly goes so deep, yet he remains selfless and tells people (Akito and Kyo) what they NEED to hear for their own good // it's hard to describe just how far Momiji shot up my list of favorite Furuba characters from episode 5 alone, but he's up there // Furuba with a TREMENDOUS display of the fragile balance of bonds, all done through Momiji's eyes, so peak!! Shigure doesnt need Akito, what he needs is a diagnosis WAITTT A SECOND I forgot the OP visuals were so good YUKI AND MACHI YESSSS As ALWAYS, the Tohru-centric episodes are beyond heartbreaking // I think you made a great point about the various bonds in this show hurting everyone in different ways...reminds me of Kendrick Lamar's "United in Grief" where the message is basically that everyone grieves differently through hurting ourselves and others, yet we're all united in the things we grieve about in the first place oops wow i wrote a lot

One of the best things for me about kyo and tohru’s relationship is the way kyo always makes sure to let her be herself with him, telling her it’s okay to cry and show her weaknesses in front of him, always asking her about her mom which he know means so much to her. It’s so precious they both heals and comfort each other i love them so much

And Ritsu is missing completely from the intro. But he is barely a character anyway outside of his two gimmicks, crossdressing and yelling "i am sorry!" all the time. Even the manga forgot about him at some point.

SOOOOO this was ALOT episode 6 was one of my favorites firstly i want to talk about the opening, if you notice everyone had someone by their side even Hiro and Momiji even though some can say they aren't seriously that close. but you know who was by herself in the dark without showing a face while everyone did? Kagura :(( knowing that she is incredibly lonely just HURTS so onto episode 6, my experience was like "oh this will end sweetly but NOPE if you ever get a chance watch s2 episode 9 and the grave episode with everyone! this episode was SO fantastic!

i always liked momiji but this episode definitely shot him to my favorites 😩 i just want to hug him. his story is so sad, but he's still so hopeful :(

Episode 6 had so many moments I never thought we would see in animation form before this reboot was announced. One of the best episodes in the whole series

ep 5 is one of my favorite episodes!! I cry every time i watch it or even read it in the manga! It just shows how lonely momiji really are like wow it broke but he has no one to come home to and be happy for him. Damn did i just make myself cry (:? It’s soo bittersweet my baby 😢
