Absolutely one of the most underrated characters in the entire show. Episode 16 is an excellent one just for its thematic focus on longing and wishing for relationships that are unrequited and impossible even if both sides wish for it. And Tohru is the perfect touchstone for both Momiji/Momo and Uo-chan/Kureno, because she has an even deeper longing of her own buried in her heart. Tohru wishes she could see her mom again, and without a doubt Kyoko would do anything to see Tohru again if it was at all possible. Tohru has shown to be extremely empathetic throughout all of Fruits Basket, but as she starts to take the lid off her own feelings she realizes how truly painful empathy can be when it involves her own buried emotions. The heartbreaking events of Momiji/Momo and Uo-chan/Kureno playing out in front of her is forcing Tohru to sit in the front row to the painful unveiling of her own feelings. But she is Tohru. We must believe that she will prevail.

2024-11-24 03:46:12 +0000 UTCany ep that include Momiji makes me cry he is my fav sohma with Hatori and Hatsuharu they have special place in my heart (of course other than kyo and yuki) i love this anime so much they did a great great job at making the viewer care about the characters deeply the characters were build in a way that make them feel like human that eventually you cant help but care deeply about them and wish them a happy ending i cant wait to see your reaction to the rest of the show trust me it will be ranked as one of ur fav

2024-11-22 23:24:12 +0000 UTCcan i just say, i really appreciate how you remember the "small" details from the show. like how you mentioned the sohma bank accounts from season one, and how tohru was wearing yuki's ribbon he got her, since most ppl would forget about details like that. idk, it just shows how much you are invested in this anime and it makes me sooo happy since fruba is my all time favorite anime :) also you crying at the end in almost every episode is so REAL. love these reactions, alana. keep up the great work!!! <33

Him saying that his father is scared of him “destroying the happiness he rebuild” makes me so upset. It’s so unfair for momiji that their happiness is build on his suffering and he is soo kind and sweet he doesn’t care if he’s included or not he just wishes to preform in front of them. What a tiny wish :( he is my second favorite character in this show after yuki and he makes me bowl my eyes out i hate this show (I’m obsessed with it)

Yuki is handsome and he's so cute with Tohru I hope they end up together" and now I just feel like a proud parent every time he shows growth no matter how small it may seem and can't imagine a love interest for Tohru other than Kyo. It makes me emotional seeing you react like I did haha. I look forward to these each week, so thank you for starting it.
