yes! i think he is possessed too and the curse binds him as well, like tohru mentioned. i agree, there's definitely more to it than him just being crazy, and I'm excited and scared to learn what the truth is hahaha

I love this show so much. No matter how many times I watch it, my heart always sinks when Akito is around. I love Kyo and Toru, they are so cute! I just caught up with you and I look forward to seeing you react to the rest of this season and hopefully next season, too. This is one of my all-time favorite anime. It is such a rollercoaster and trust me, we're still on it. I'll be looking for your next views. Thanks for reacting to this! If you need a pallet cleanser after this, Tadaima, Okairi is the sweetest show! It has its drama, but there are so many feel-good moments.

Well, my brain is extremely full of plot now. I wish my understanding of the Japanese language was not that of a seven-year-old but the zodiac members have all referred to the curse as being "possessed" by their respective animal spirits, yeah? Does that mean Akito is possessed by the spirit of the kami we saw in the first episode? Is *that* why he's like this? It's one thing to share your mind and body with an creature and another thing entirely to share it with a *god*. Wondering if that is what Tohru meant by the curse binding Akito as well. It's very possible I am reading way too much into this but... One of my favorite fantasy novels is the Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. In it, the immortal unicorn is temporarily transformed into a human being so she won't be captured and driven into the sea with the others. The price is that she is suddenly mortal, with a mortal body. “This body is dying. I can feel it rotting all around me. How can anything that is going to die be real?” It's possible the god in Akito wants something eternal and unchanging but nothing is or can be. Upon recovering her immortality the unicorn says “I have been mortal, and some part of me is mortal yet. I am full of tears and hunger and the fear of death, although I cannot weep, and I want nothing, and I cannot die. I am not like the others now, for no unicorn was ever born who could regret, but I do. I regret.” That dichotomy would be difficult to live with. This is absolutely not me attempting to excuse his actions (I hate him so much) but it would give a bit more depth to his character other than 'monstrously abusive and crazy.' On a much lighter note, Yuki offering Kyo his seat feels hilariously meta and I love it.
