How does she not die? I'm assuming that she still releases Chi from her head. Just like she broke from that chair in episode 1. So it's sort of a shield. She takes some damage, but not the amount that it looks like. And Ken when he takes damage is still partly possessed. So it's possible that grants him much more durability. Or it's just typical Manga/Anime exaggeration ;)
