more recommendations please

hi everyone! we're getting to the end of summer time rendering over here on patreon AHHH

which means we'll be starting a new show NEXT MONDAY and i need some help on deciding what to watch next!

i'm kinda feeling like i want to watch something other than a time travel show because we've watched two in a row now LOL. but i'm open to suggestions - romance, one of the classics, drama, etc!!

i'll be making a poll in a few days with my top picks so you can all decide what we start next! thanks in advance everyone :D

Comments

Please watch this beautiful show 'Hibike Euphonium' it's very similar to Bocchi The Rock. For me, This is one of the best Kyoto animation show i have ever watch. The story and drama is peak. The animation is beautiful and the cast is so good

rdd

Will you be able to finish Spy X Family season 2?

Andrew Diseker

Psycho Pass is a masterpiece you have to watch it!!

Leo

Have you reacted to Mushoku Tensei ??

CocainCowboy

Please please please do the full season of Days with my Stepsister! On Anime Corner it just won: - Anime of the Summer Season - Drama of the Season - Storytelling of the Season - Slice-of-Life of the Season - Adaptation of the Season, - Soundtrack of the Season. This masterpiece of a romance drama is more like a grounded indie art-house film without the anime tropes and fan service. I'd say it's literally right up your alley and your style!

Joe Gunawan

psycho pass, and I second Skip and Loafer

Sam Evans

Skip and Loafer!

CptnDiabetes

Recovery of an MMO Junkie, very cute characters that are adult aged love story.

Kythar

my favorite romance anime is "I want to eat your pancreas" which is a movie. you gotta watch it since it is peak!

7th time loop: Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!!!! PLEASEEEE!!! This is my fav villainess show, the couple is really cute and both the hero and heroine are strong as hell in multiple ways. I’ve been reading it’s manga and light novel and it never let me down 🥺🥺🥺

I'm also seeing so many Hyouka recs and I couldn't agree more!! It's so great.

Rachel

Vouching so hard for every Run with the Wind and Skip and Loafer rec!! RWTW changed my life and S&L clicked with me in a way few stories have. If you're in the mood for a watching experience very similar to Haikyuu!! (emotional, has ups & downs, inspiring) but with an older cast, less focus on the sport itself and more focus on their personal reasons for running: Run with the Wind. If you're in the mood for a light-hearted show with complex, well-written characters and a story that treats them all with so much kindness, understanding and empathy, and is also full of incredibly cute and heartfelt and sweet moments: Skip and Loafer. You mentioned romance & drama and I think these shows have both in varying degrees! Both shows focus mainly on their relatable characters and how they are challenged, grow and change over the course of the stories, but you will never feel like conflict is added for the sake of conflict. There is always a meaningful outcome and it never overstays its welcome (incredible, wow, amazing). Pacing-wise, RWTW's is tighter in 23 episodes than S&L is in 12, but both have good pacing for their respective genres imo! I love them both so dearly & I hope you do too! <3

Rachel

Made in abyss!!

steviemoe

It would be funny to see The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You as one (It's better than it seems) for a more light hearted and wholesome watch For a more serious watch, the two movies Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid were also really good follow ups to the Bunny Girl Series

fushears

Vivy! super underrated, great animation and story. or angel beats

Matt Rhinehart

Madoka Magica!

Nakirium

Call of the night, insomniacs after school, and classroom of the elite

Adrian Prieto

Chihayfuru... It's got romance and action and no time travel to be found anywhere.

Stefan Nelson

Run with the Wind - an uplifting sports anime about a group of college-age boys who become runners, it's a wholesome show by the same team who made Haikyuu!!, with great music by the same composer. 23 episode series by Production I.G. March Comes in Like a Lion - a coming of age/slice of life show about 17 year old Rei, a professional Shogi (Japanese chess, strategy board game) player who lives alone in Tokyo. He is befriended by three kind sisters who look out for Rei who is shy and isolated from other people. 22 episodes by Studio Shaft. Skip and Loafer - wholesome slice of life romantic comedy about a country girl starting high school in Tokyo, great ensemble cast and light but mature story-telling, 12 episodes by P.A Works.

Nat D.

Heavenly Delusions and Kaiju No 8

Caamm

Okay, okay, one more: Baccano! A story set in the prohibition involving multiple disparate groups of colorful characters (mobsters, gangs, thieves, serial killers) whose schemes all weave around each other until they collide into one of the most satisfying "Everything comes together" moments I've ever seen in media. Actually a really fun, crazy, cowboy-bebop-vibe of a time with a mind-boggling crazy plot running beneath it all.

geromyre

Esoteric: Mononoke. The mysterious medicine seller goes around solving weird paranormal mysteries in period era Japan. Some of the most stunning visuals ever. A new movie just came out last month! (Extra points if you can watch Bake Neko, which is the third story of Ayakashi: Classic Japanese Horror, and was the short story that spawned Mononoke). Underrated: Now and Then, Here and There. Takes the isekai trope and says "Oh, you thought this would be fun?" and then punches you in the gut as hard as possible. Heavy watch. Criminally underrated: Wagnaria! I think the version on Crunchyroll is the spin-off self contained story, but both this and the original series are hands down the _funniest_ anime I've ever seen. Routinely crying I was laughing so hard.

geromyre

I'm here again with the unlikely anime, but dang it, I'm not gonna stop recommending them because they're awesome! Classic: Monster. Psychological drama that runs 94 eps. It's heavy, it's rough some times. I had to take a break about halfway through and watch something adorable to reset my brain (I opted for Lucky Star). Current: Ya boy, Kongming! Zhuge Liang (courtesy name Kongming) wakes up in modern Japan and believes a singer he meets in Shibuya is the key to world peace. To help Eiko become the biggest musical artist in the world, he will employ all of his intellect and turn his battle strategies into marketing schemes. It is as wholesome as it is hilarious.

geromyre

I'd love to see Made in Abyss. I think you'd like Anohana as well.

TheGoldenLobster

Catch up on the bunny girl senpai movies? 2 more are available now. “Orange” A nice show that takes a sad turn. Underrated “Angel beats” another great show, the premise is sad though. “91 days” a great prohibition era revenge story. Great cast and a banger op.

Zach

gotta start the Fate series

Toidleboy

Its actually the team that worked on Kaguya too

greenb3ar

I'd recommend Angel Beats. It's pretty short about 13 eps i think and something slightly different you'd probably enjoy.

Knvr

"A Place Further Than the Universe," of all the ones that are getting recommended a lot, is the one I think you'd be the most in the mood for right now imo. I also kind of want to see you watch "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You" because it's peak comedy and I still don't know if you would love it or hate it lol

Krieger

Seirei no Moribito: grounded fantasy drama with well written characters, brief but stellar action, amazing/strong female lead. I would say it has Vinland Saga vibes. Kemono No Souja Erin: by the same author as above. sort of a coming of age fantasy with another strong female lead character (see the pattern? lol)

blis93

Monster and psycho pass

Kaido

I will never not scream about "Vivi: Flourite Eyes Song" or "A Place Further Than the Universe"

2lazy2username

If I may add a few more...?? Kimi no todoke. Skip and Loafer. Undead Murder Farce. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten. And My Happy Marriage - which I thought you had already covered ...?

I am agreeing with everyone who says Hyouka it is THAT good

Jared Williams

Insomniacs After School, Hyouka and are all gorgeous narratively and visually! All very character driven and down-to-earth, Hyouka in particular is maybe coziest, lowest-stakes mystery show there ever was!

Scumunculus

seconding hyouka and chihayafuru, both are great,

Adam Clamp

- Hyouka - Chihayafuru - Fate Series (Ufotable) - Odd Taxi - March Comes in Like a Lion - Sound! Euphonium

Top two picks: - Insomniacs after school (feel good, coming of age, romance) - A place further than the universe (coming of age, drama) More: - Erased (drama, sci fi, mystery) - Another (supernatural, sci fi, mystery) - Heavenly Delusion (post apocolytipc, mystery, sci fi) Really glad you picked summertime rendering, such an under appreciated show!

LAND OF THE LUSTROUS MENTION

zzuha

You want heart wrenching romance? You want outrageous action? You want hope? Despair? Then I feel like you should watch Gurren Laggan and experience the indomitable human spirit and the drill that creates the heavens

KIMI

•Eureka Seven- You would have to either buy the blu-ray or stream from 3rd party website because it's not on Crunchyroll. Don't worry about 2nd series or movies. • World Trigger • Laid-Back Camp • Shangri-la Frontier • Dr. Stone • Black Clover

Andy Hinton

Saekano, Girls Band Cry, Mushoku Tensei, Golden Time, Classroom of the Elite

TheCeoOfAnime

For older stuff, I think you would enjoy Clannad, Fruits Basket (2019), or Assassination Classroom. For new stuff Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines is popular right now and Girls Band Cry was really good last season!

Mkj9u

Insomniacs After School, Skip and Loafer, and Kimi ni Todoke are probably the sweetest and most wholesome romances you can watch

Nick

You should def try heavenly delusion!!!!

RedSinity

Clannad

Byron Gudiel

Beck if a fantastic music anime and such a special story, it's an early/mid 2000's anime but still holds up to today!

TheAnimeJunkie

Also I know it’s a long shot since it’s so long but I would love if you’d give one piece a shot even if it was the live action!

babibobabux

I'd love to see someone watch Hyouka or San-Gatsu no lion. Both have slight romance in them but focus on other themes as well. Hyouka is more slice of life mystery, while 3-gatsu no lion focusses on internal struggle and the feeling of family

Girls band cry ? Not everyone’s taste in the way it’s animated but I think it would be a good watch especially if you want a music anime

Jake Johnson

For Romance: Tomo-chan is a girl, and from left field The Ice Guy and his Female Colleague (Spice and Wolf only after this season ends I‘d say) Mystery/Horror: Dark Gathering Well, eh, undead: Undead girl murder farce Undead Unluck There are surely more I‘d like to see but I think you‘d like these and I selfishly want *some* creator to react to them. ;-) All single season 12/24 eps.

You really need to watch Clannad, it's right into the genre you like

Aromad

Id' recommend "Kimi i Todoke" for a romance anime since the 3rd season is releasing right now. I'd also recommend "Hyoka" for more slice of life or maybe even "Barakamon". If you are in the mood for some sports anime I'd recommend "Run with the Wind" or "Chihayafuru".

Stefanie

Didn't see it in the comments, so I'll say it myself - Mushoku Tensei. 😅

Max Protsenko

YOU FRIGGING HAVE TO WATCH CLANNAD BRO!!

FluffyPanda

I'll throw in 2 from the same Creator: Baccano (a short one) Durarara (the one with 4 seasons) Both very good and completed stories

Mirage Edge

I mentioned Stein's Gate but clearly said "avoid it for right now". As for Erased, it's short enough that it I don't think it would matter all too much. My main recommendation is still ReLife

AsterJ

March Comes In Like A Lion

DrWomanRespecter

I’m pretty sure Bocchi was made by Cloverworks, the same as My Dress up Darling. Probably should say Lycorics and 86.

Seasonal i would recommend Makeine: Too many losing heroines, amazing romcom with a twist. Phenomenal animation by A1 pictures. The studio that made Bocchi and Lycoris Recoil. If you want romance, The angel next door spoils me rotten. A very wholesome and sweet romance. Also, a second season has been announced.

FluffyPanda

Code Geass would be dope, since I know you watched Evangelion and they are both "mecha" animes with drama and good story. If you are down to go for a non-anime show it would be really funny for you to react to a show like The Boys too lol.

juniorviana

Fruits Basket!

I wanted to add more: SHIROBAKO, making anime the anime, about five girls who's struggling in the animation industry from different angles. A Place Further Than The Universe, a group of girls decide to take a dangerous trip to Antarctica for different reasons. Drama, feelings, good shit. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, get in the damn robot, Alana.

SumoJo61

I think Assassination Classroom and Fruits Basket were in your last poll and I still think you’d have a lot of fun with them. I feel like it’s been a little while since you’ve watched a more slice of life and drama focused show, so I’d love to see you react to Fruits Basket especially! When it comes to more recent and shorter shows I’d recommend Wind Breaker which was honestly a hidden gem for me this year!

Kuro

Just say ERASED for boku dake ga inai machi. People don't normally know the jp name

I think you would enjoy "Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines!". It's a comedy/romance/slice of life with a cast filled of over the top characters and incredible production quality (A-1 Pictures at its best). A treat for reaction videos. It's still airing, though. So it wouldn't replace STR on its own.

Chihayafuru - a sports anime about competitive ‘karuta,’ unadulterated love and friendship politics, and evolving cultures 💕

OddTaxi is a fabulous crime drama I highly recommend. Handyman Saitou in Another World is worth checking out. Raven in the Inner Palace is brilliant—it’s Apothecary Diaries if it was played straight and a supernatural drama. I’ll also put in a word for Do It Yourself (DIY) as well, a feel good slice of life anime that deserves more love than it got

I would recommend Run with the Wind. It's about beautiful boys in a college running club and you will absolutely cry.

Kaiju no. 8 is very good. Also the remake of Spice and Wolf is top tier aswell! Clannad and Anohana are must watch if you haven’t seen them.
