I feel like Cheng would've done his very best to save the mom if Lu Guang refused, hence the reason why he lied. As he said, things could be worse if they seriously mess with the timeline. It's quite like yin and yang. Their whole dynamic/business wouldn't work if Lu Guang isn't himself, even if it means he has to be cruel. Great reaction as always, Alana!
