I second A Place Further Than The Universe, here as well. It is really time for it!

Dennis

A few fun anime from the top of my list is: Top pick: Blue eye Samurai -An american/japanese anime on netflix with probably one of the most interesting and relatable female protagonist I have ever seen. Action anime, but with a lot of really awesome character development like in 86. Great animation, sound and characters. You NEED to watch this! Immortal classics: Anohana - The original heartbreaker anime. The sweetest and most sympathy enducing anime I have ever seen. Will make you cry your eyes out. A Place Further Than the Universe - Although they re middleschoolers (I think), I still think this is up your alley. No romance or immature weirdness, only a group of children struggling with life and growing up as they try to get to antarctia to solve a mystery. Very relatable and sweet. Recovery of an MMO Junkie - An adult romance (Josei) about a 30 year old woman gives up on life and decides to dedicate herself to MMOs. Unexpectely, she finds meaning there as she meets the love of her life. Reminicent of My Love story with Yamada. More recent goodies: Birdie Wing - How can you make a sports anime about golf one of the most interesting anime in its season? Birdy Wing is how you do it. takt op.Destiny - If you like music, action and deep psycological anime, this is for you! The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague - Another adult romance (probably Seinen) about two exceedingly cute coworker that fall in love. As a drop of fantasy theme to it. Classroom of the Elite - mind boggling intrigue and deception as the students at the elite highschool (?) struggle to get to the top by graduation. One of the smartest anime I have ever seen. A Galaxy Next Door - Yet another adult romance about a mangaka who gets stung so hard (literally) by his female temp worker that he falls in love. Also has a hint of fantasy element to it.

A Place Further Than the Universe is a brilliant slice of life comedy/drama

edward enright

Oh hey, Undead Girl Murder Farce is on Crunchyroll now. Nice.

geromyre

A few more: "Yuru Camp" or "Laid-Back Camp" is a slice of life about high-school girls learning and falling in love with camping. It's pure serotonin. Season 3 is currently airing, and it just makes me smile so much. (Crunchyroll) "Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle" is about a human princess captured by demons, but all she wants is a good night's sleep. It is super cute and funny, and is a huge parody of JRPG tropes. (Crunchyroll) "Princess, It's Time for Torture!" If I had a nickel.... Human princess is captured by demons, but this time they need to torture her for information about the human kingdom. The gag is the tortures and demons and everything about this series is always just ridiculously wholesome. Usually the 'torture' is taunting Princess (she does not have a name) with delicious food which they will let her eat if she talks. Another serotonin overdose show, and I love it. (Crunchyroll) "Bartender: Glass of God" A slice of life drama where a bartender is on a mission to soothe the soul of any patron who comes into his bar. With warm conversation and the perfect drink, you learn about the people who find themselves sitting across the bar from him and why he takes his profession so seriously. (Crunchyroll) "Dark Gathering" Okay, no more happy feel good shows. Time for something messed up. This show has a cartoony quality that kinda took me out of the awesome premise in the beginning (girl captures ghosts to use them to fight bigger badder ghosts to save her mom's spirit). Feels a bit like Detective Conan, but edgy. And then the show starts delving into storylines that have fairly dark subject matter, which made me realize the cartoony feel is to soften the blow of some very messed up plots. Season one of 25 episodes ended last year. (HiDive) "Undead Girl Murder Farce" What a name, huh? Okay, this one is fun: when you hear 'monster detective mystery' you think Sherlock but supernatural, right? Like a person is killed and he has to hunt down a ghost or something. However, it's about a detective team made up of a talking head, her maid, and a mysteriously strong guy. Set in the late 1800's, monsters are real and known. But when a vampire in a vampire household is murdered, the humans don't want to help them out, so send in the monster detectives! Season one of 13 episodes ended last year. (HiDive)

geromyre

If you want horror: Another. It's a slow burn start, letting the tension build nice and thick before the craziness starts. It's got a Final Destination style premise with more fun occult weirdness. And the story is 1 contained season. If you want comedy: Wagnaria! There's a few of these, and annoyingly it looks like if you want to watch it on Crunchyroll you may need a VPN. It's three seasons with a finale movie, and it's hands down one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. One friend I recommended it to said when he watched it, even after me hyping it up like crazy he still wasn't ready for how funny it was. However, available on normal US Crunchyroll is WWW.WAGNARIA!!, which was made after the other show and follows a different restaurant in the same chain with all different characters. This story is actually from the original prototype manga the author wrote first. This is 1 season, and is still a riot. And man I want to recommend Mononoke (not the Ghibli movie, and it's on Crunchyroll). I really do, it's one of my favorite anime. It's getting a new installment after winning a Japanese poll which asked "What is an underrated anime that people have forgotten". However, the first installment is not actually part of the show. There was another series, Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, that was three short stories. The third story, Bakeneko, got so popular it spawned Mononoke, which is a contained 13 episodes/half a season. And the big problem is there isn't a way to stream Ayakashi legally. While the show is a bunch of self-contained vignettes and arguably doesn't need the first part, a few issues: 1) Bakeneko is arguably one of if not the strongest of the stories. 2) The events of Bakeneko is referenced heavily in one of the episodes. 3) The final vignette in Mononoke is ALSO called Bakeneko, and plays with the plot, motifs, and even the characters from the original. Maybe just watch Ayakashi's Bakeneko on your own time and then watch Mononoke? It's such a stunningly gorgeous show as a well as just being fun mystery ghost stories.

geromyre

I have to recommend Spice and Wolf (either the newer adaptation or the old) because of its romance/ journey/ feel good themes. Raven of the Inner Palace (similar vibe to Apothecary Diaries) and Honey and Clover are also shows I think you would like!

Gerardo Ramirez

Oh reading some of the comments reminded me, "A Place Further Than The Universe" is pretty great too

_nacnuD

it's not a show, but I recommend the movie Suzume! It's the same creator as Your Name and Weathering with you. As for a show, I recommend The Ancient Magus' Bride!

"A Place Further Than The Universe" is an emotional masterpiece "Code Geass" has an insane plot and emotional highs "Madoka Magica" is concise and trippy and just amazing. Also Dangers in my Heart turned into a top tier romance but I think you dropped it early before it got good haha.

James Moss

If you want an interesting comparison to the Apothecary Diaries, I’d recommend Raven in the Inner Palace.

Kevin Nauta

Link click. Amazing Chinese time travel anime.

Zach

Summertime Render, Steins Gate and maybe Made in Abyss.

Glubbing Royalty

Invincible! Honestly such a well written series. I know it might be off putting because it's super hero related, at least it was for me. However, it is significantly better and more interesting than you think it would be. It subverts expectations in albeit sometimes brutal ways, but it also does so in it's very unique and competent writing. Highly recommend!

Gabriel Barott

Josee would be great for a film reaction!

Loony BoB

I feel like you would really enjoy steins gate.

Alonso

For a perfect cozy watch, I would pick Tamako Love Story. This is the movie from the anime Tamako Market (you don't need to watch it, but it's better if you do, because you will grasp the character development better in the movie). All the characters are likeable and endearing (maybe almost all the characters), and it's from Kyoto Animation with Naoko Yamada (she also directed A Silent Voice). The story is not so dramatic, but it has its own magic and can get emotional sometimes :) or if you something more captivating just watch Steins Gate

Facundo Monteagudo

Steins;Gate

Matt Cheol

Ranked from what I most want to see to want I still want to see but won't fight about it (they're all bangers though) : 1. Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch from Mercury - It's just so good -It's a Tie- 1. Vivy Flourite Eyes Song - Just a stunning anime top to bottom, Action, Music, Feels, Time Travel (kinda) 2. Trigun Stampede - It's just so damn good and jaw droppingly beautiful 3. Kill la Kill - If you wanna see the studio behind Cyberpunk Edgerunners and Dungeon Meshi go fucking ham with no one holding their leash -Or- 3. Gurren Lagann - For the excact same reason as Kill la Kill 4. A Place Further than the Universe - All the feels and super poignant but also uplifting. 5. Asobi Asobase - The most unhinged comedy anime I've seen with a BANGER for the ED sang by one of the voice actresses 6. Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! - A wildly imaginitve look at the different passions that come together to create animation. 7. Sweetness & Lighting - Genuinely wholesome show about a widowed father and his toddler aged daughter and him trying to be the best possible parent. This turns into him taking cooking lessons with/from a local restaurant owner's daughter. It is pretty much the equivelant of snorting 100% pure cuteness. 8. Bunny Drop - Touching found family, man adopts his grandfather's illegitimate daughter who was born only a few years before his death. But, and I cannot stress this enough, THE ANIME IS ALL THERE IS TO THIS STORY, DON'T TRY LOOKING UP ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE ANIME'S END!! 9. Dangers in my Heart - I know you dropped it because you bounced off the first 3 episodes hard. We ALL did, but it gets better fast from them. I respect it you want to keep it dead. I only suggest it because the second season IS THAT GOOD SHIT for anime romances. 10. ODDTAXI - Its just a unique ass thing 11. Amagi Brilliant Park - Feel good animation flexing from Kyoto Animation (the studio who did A Silent Voice) with characters named after Queen Latifa and Kanye West for some reason.

Wind Breaker is a shonen anime focusing on outcast high schooler Sakura Haruka as he fights to be the top of delinquent school Furin High. Whilst this CloverWorks show has plenty of excellent fight animation, it also has a surprising amount of heart as we follow our protagonist's journey to learn to accept kindness and friendship after a lifetime of rejection. The show does a good job at introducing a varied cast of characters with diverse designs, fighting styles and motivations. The animation and soundtrack immediately stand out - there will be thirteen episodes this season and plenty of manga left to adapt, I really hope you give it a shot!

if there is ever a time for me to try and push Vivy it would be now haha, its written by tappei who wrote Re:Zero! its animated by WIT studio and was an original anime that aired a couple years ago. it has a little bit of everything and it does all of it as good as any anime ive ever seen. theres action, mystery, emotional moments, a lot of thought provoking subject matter, and has honestly possibly the best art/animation you'll see! i'd give a brief synopsis but on the off chance you do watch, its so much more fun going in completely blind and i love this anime too much to take that away from you!

plug-in panda

How come you stopped mid way of season 3 of MHA Just curious

The Sloth King

I think your selection from the last poll that Re:Zero won already had a good selection - Steins;Gate and Code Geass. If you want something else that's cerebral like those to add to the poll, I think you'd really enjoy ODDTAXI or Land of the Lustrous (Houseki no Kuni). OR if you want a romance, you could start a yaoi/yuri series during pride month! Given is a nice short series, and Bloom Into You is very well-written (albeit incomplete)

I feel like you’d absolutely love Assassination Classroom. Fun show that is honestly one of my favorite of all time and is just a classic. I would really like you to react to Clannad. Steins Gate and A Place Further the Universe are interesting too.

I already mentioned Steins;Gate, but I would also like to mention that MAGES is planning a series of events this year to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Steins;Gate visual novel game which is going to include a live concert in Toyoko, Japan, and the release of a Steins;Gate thematic sequel. Be part of the celebration and watch the original Steins;Gate!

James

I second Grand Blue and Skip and Loafer. Skip and Loafer was one of my favorites from last year. So heartwarming and the color palette is great. I’d also throw in Insomniacs after School

Fara Mir

Fruits Basket would be a great watch!

JeremyLin

Made in Abyss if you want something mysterious, dark, disturbing but also weirdly beautiful.

Desolane

A place further than the universe Assassination classroom Dangers in my heart - gets way better starting episode 3/4, I also dropped it initially

Spencer Chang

Honestly, to replace rezero, it'd be nice to have something high-intensity/action-focused again, to rival dungeon meshi. It'd probably lose in the polls because of recency bias, but it'd be nice to see your reactions to FATE/ZERO. No need diving too deep into other shows in the fate universe. Reactors usually just do fate/zero and then unlimited blade works, and then heaven's feel (movie trilogy) It's intense, got good characters, have amazing visuals (ufotable), and an engaging story. You're better off watching fate/zero first, then if you like it, you can continue on with the shows I mentioned earlier. SOME OTHER SUGGESTIONS: Link Click Vivy Code Geass all in all, it'd be great to have something with intensity so it could rival/compliment dungeon meshi (or another 'feel good' anime in the future) hehe

S0NATA

Shirobako is an important anime, for those who really like japanimation and want to dive even more into it. It's 2x12 ep and has so much theme for so many different type of person. Im totally sure it will inspire you

Still Steins;Gate, I really think you'd enjoy it. Other than than, I would really recommend Tower of God, Zom 100, Heavenly Delusion, Mushishi. For the currently running ones I'd recommend Kaiju number 8, Wind Breaker and Sentai Daishikkaku

Harry Oswald Chisholm

Golden time Kaiju No.8 Odd Taxi Blue lock Solo leveling Wind breaker Fruits Basket The Angel next door spoils me rotten

Rinsaka

March comes in like a lion (one of my all time greats, an incredible look at someone's tumultuous life, with cute & depressing moments altogether, gorgeous presentation, direction & music and the Japanese board game of Shogi) Kiseiju/Parasyte (a classic, well-received story about humanity and existence, from way back & adapted into anime) Insomniacs after school (god the manga is even more amazing please read it folks!)

GOLDEN KAMUY weirdly slept on for how good it is, it's my favourite anime of all time. You learn lots about Ainu (Native culture in Hokkaido) and a nail biting twisting and turning plot around coded tattoos on death row prisoners that leads to treasure. It's funny and the serious parts are really really phenomenal

Rocket

Selector Infected WIXOSS doesn't get enough love... if you can even find it after Funimation shut down. :(

WuYixiang

Code Geass

JD

Blue Lock Samurai Champloo Dangers in My Heart (the series legit got better, became a favorite but completely fair if still not the vibe) Dr. Stone AND lots of good suggestions in comments here, we'll enjoy what you enjoy!

BluTsunami

Noragami! I know you'll love it

sinacal

I think you would enjoy Dr. Stone. It currently has 3 seasons with the 4th and final one coming next year. It has some action elements but it is mostly comedy. All characters are great too, even the villains. I don’t want to give too much spoilers so I do hope you give it a try!

Frank Benitez

Steins Gate, it's made by the same studio as Re Zero

Hans Santoso

A Place Further than the Universe!!!!!!!!!!

Rocket

Made in Abyss and Mushoku Tensei are my recommendations right now, they both can get insanly dark and have no filters when it comes to serious topics.

Metatempo

Made in Abyss

Mitschiro

1. Kaiju no.8 2. Solo leveling 3. Mashle

litvader

Insomniacs one of the best romance drama, but people sleep on it made me so sad…

KumiRei

Summer time render, heavenly dilusion or maybe if we feeling a little masoquist made in abyss(?)

Brac3r

SKIP AND LOAFER. Even if not on the channel PLEASE watch it on your own cus it's right up your alley. You would love it so much.

Bobo Bay

I’d like to recommend Buddy Daddies ! It’s a short 12 episodes original anime. If you enjoyed Spy Family you might like this one ! Also my two favorites from last year, Summer Time Rendering (24 episodes), it’s a mystery/sci-fi/thriller, and Heavenly Delusion (12 episodes), a seinen sci-fi apocalyptic themed, beautifully written anime ! (But with some violent scenes so beware..)

Mai San

A Place Further Than the Universe. After the darkness of Re:Zero a beautifully written wholesome story would be a nice change of pace.

I recommend putting Steins;Gate on the poll as it's one of the highest rated anime of all times (but it will probably still lose in the poll).

1. That time i got reincarnated as a slime 2. Danmachi 3. Gundam 00 4. Gundam Seed Series Maybe too much for suggestions from 1 person lol

Ooo yeah saw someone else say it but Call of the Night would be awesome aswell

Lawlach

To your Eternity or Call of the Night are both excellent

CarbonDog

Would love to see you react to Made In Abyss, it is pretty dark, sad and graphic at times though. If you want a Isekai comedy i think Konosuba could be good too

Peter Tjernström

Mashle and Dangers in My Heart

Joe Smook

If we’re sticking with anime, I think Stein’s Gate is solid. I’d like to see some western shows like Invincible, but the runtime and theme might not be your cup of tea.

Spice and wolf is very good, but it's very about its world building so not sure how well it would do for reactions. A random fun suggestion would be fate stay night: unlimited blade works. Good action series with some very fun philosophical angles to it

Ben

I love MT but if she dropped Danger in my heart I don't think it's a good fit for her 🤷🏽‍♂️

Ryan H

I think Insomniacs after school is underappreciated and missing in a lot of possible enjoyers watchlist. So I'm going to suggest that.

Not sure if you want to watch newer ones or not, but from the current season my favourite shows are Windbreaker, Kaiju No 8 and Train to the End of the World. Not sure of the last one is popular enough, the other two probably are though!

Mushoku Tensei is pretty big right now and might be one of your first isekai. Plus it has practically 2 full seasons. Or Kaiju no. 8 but we only have 8 episodes to watch so far
