so when puck said "pick up where we left off" he was alluding towards a fight between them that happened when Roswaal first showed up to get Emilia from the forest, it was briefly talked about in the memory snow OVA along with some more info about the magic release period

2024-06-22 07:12:37 +0000 UTCAbout Roswaal, a small reminder that before we got to learn about the Witch of Greed, Echidna, and all that relationship mix in this season, Roswaal initial wish was stated in season 1 when Subaru just joined the Mathers Mansion. When he was asking Ram at night about Subaru possibly being a spy & replenishing her mana through contact with her scar on her forehead where she used to have her horn, he says "All for the sake of my wish, for the day when I get to kill the Dragon" A curious thing to say when you're a resident of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica. What it truly means is yet a mystery, where we stand here. Maybe it is tied to his wish about Echidna, seeing as he is so devoted to her, but in what way then.. more questions as always!

I love the shock in Roswals eyes as he begins to understand that Subaru didn't manipulate Emilia but told her hard truths instead. Emilia has grown so much in so little time. Oh... rewatching this, I am so much looking forward to the next season in October, beginning with a 90 minute opening episode. This is really the perfect time to see all of it again along with this reaction.
