help me choose what to watch next

I recommend that you watch Steins Gate first and then Re:zero since if I'm not mistaken, its third season will come out this year and it would be better if you watched the first 2 seasons and the one that premieres this year together.

If you are interested in thriller-y time loop anime and it's not just a coincidence with those shows both being extra popular I'd also point you to Summertime Rendering. Not the best reaction bait as it never got that popular over here cause it was in streaming jail, but it was stellar. Personally I'd say it has the tightest writing for a timeloop based story I've seen. Also really good direction/production/atmosphere. Falls off a little in the last act, but hey...

Steins gate I'd say is definitely the strongest of the three. Pretty solid writing and direction. Re:zero... is a little trashy (you know, in the way many fantasy anime where every female inexplicably loves the MC for seemingly no reason... yada yada. You get it), and personally I couldn't stand the MC... Code geass I remember being pretty good when I watched it over 10 years ago when I was in high school... but I have a suspicion it wouldn't hold up as well if I watched it today? Especially considering it seems like there are a lot of modern shoes in the same vein that are so well received..

FYI, there’s supposedly a Steins;Gate sequel coming out this year, but it’ll mostly come out as a video game. The writer of the sequel did not rule out an anime entirely though.

Yep but some people put slime instead of konosuba, but I think putting konosuba who is a comedie show next to show like mushoku or re zero is a good choice.

Yeah I absolutely agree, I understand all of the hype for most of the other anime thats been reccommended but RE0 I genuinely cannot understand, the show is just too *fake deep* for me and Subaru is my least favourite protagonist of all time and is way too frustrating

For a future poll think about adding Eureka Seven. Both Eureka Seven and Code Geass are similar in certain aspects. But Eureka Seven leans a bit more into Romance/Coming of age. Both are cult classics Eureka Seven came out a year before and both fit what your looking for. Also it's a must watch in English Dub over Japanese Dub Also it's my favorite anime 🙂

I havent seen Steins Gate yet but heard a lot of good things about it, so I wont vote. Something to consider: Code Geass and Steins Gate are completed, Re:Zero isnt but has another season in production so it might be a good time to start it to be caught up when the new season airs, or it could also speak against it if you prefer watching completed animes.

S1 Subaru is what makes the anime special. Regardless, she played Persona 4 Golden on stream. No one is near as cringey and horrible as Teddie is, it is literally only uphill from there.

Re:Zero is good too but I really think you should watch Steins;Gate. It's one of my favourites ever and I think you might enjoy it more than Re:Zero (but I of course can't know that). Anyway Steins;Gate is really incredible and it's a one of a kind experience

I feel like Steins Gate is incredibly intelligent and unique… but RE:ZERO hands down will CHALLENGE you the most, and I believe that’s more important in a reaction. It has themes that can hit close to home for a lot of young (or even not so young) people, has a truly interesting world, wonderful animation, and a character so full of depth (both good and bad) that it’s ridiculous. It’ll be a journey worth going on, provided you’re able to stick through with it until the end.

3 excellent choices. Stein;Gate is a classic that stands the test of time, a masterpiece. But RE:Zero will win because it's f.... great and it's the most intense for reaction videos. Be aware that you can expect it to be harrowing. Once you've watched that, you'll be ready for Made in Abyss (although...you're never ready for MiA). Code Geass is a bit of a step down for me. But with no doubt it deserves to be on your must-watch list.
