2024-02-07 22:39:21 +0000 UTCOh my god your reaction to the new ED was so amazing 10/10. I absolutely love that song, and was stunned when I heard this new version. I have a little funny image in my head of Frieren becoming like Piccolo and looking after the kids when Stark and Fern get older lol.

2024-02-07 17:26:18 +0000 UTCThis is how I interpreted it too. Frieren begins the ED laying down at the base of a gravestone on a hill and then ends with her laying in Fern's lap in the exact same position on the exact same hill.

The way Frieren was laying next to the tomb-stone, the butterfly wings in the box (casket), the angel with the same butterfly wings, all the Fern symbology, and then at the end her laying in the lap of Fern the same way she lays at the grave. It came across to me as a heartbreaking reminder than Frieren will outlive Fern many life-times over. The first ED was about losing Himmel too, so Frieren is having to grapple with her unrealized love and losing a close friend and will outlive what is essentially her daughter. This show is so bittersweet in a very unassuming way.

2024-02-07 15:33:33 +0000 UTCi had high hopes for this anime, but it truly shattered my expectations. this will likely be such a comfort anime for me, i'll be able to go back and watch this one a thousand times over. it really strikes such a cathartic and compelling cord, it's unparalleled. i've talked about how Vinland Saga is my favorite anime of all time, but this one is almost equally as good in different ways.

Especially these days, where I feel like it's increasingly normal to be alone most of the time. Also I really want to feed a giant flower tortoise :')
