7 months late, but they explained it this episode that Mechamaru's body is like that because he has a heavenly pact, just like Toji except his means that in exchange for a mutilated body he has very high cursed energy output. You probably already know that by now tho.

For the record, the girl is useless (not really) Miwa! and we did get a backstory on Mechamaru, which is basically recapped here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko0J8Ft_bxg&ab_channel=Timmin I didn't expect him to be the mole though! And the fight got so intense in a way I didn't anticipate. Really looking forward to seeing what happens from here
