I don't think Lena deserved that type of verbal assualt. She is cleary not racist and she doesn't hold any prejudice against the 86. She has also only acted out of goodwill towards them and has spent the entire runtime of the show fighting for the betterment of them. On the otherhand, I do not blame the blonde kid for giving her that verbal assault as well, his emotions in that moment are completely understandable and some of the stuff he said was true. I think it can be both that she didn't deserve it but also she did need to hear it, that's just my take though.

At 2:50 you might notice something different from the OP from last episode. Jerome just seems super disillusioned with the Republic, he knows it's a farce and what they're doing is criminal, but just like Lena he sees the futility of one person fighting against the entire system. Also, regarding the freeze frames you were looking at, you might notice something real interesting in the one with a mirror (24:55)

Great reaction! Love to see a new person find this gem of a series. Just a small think regarding your ending question we saw Lena's mother in episode 1 when they were eating breakfast. Thanks! Can't wait for more!

Is not something that relevant but i just start reading the light novel and i just wanted to share that her "uncle" it isn't really her uncle, he was her father's best bro.

Not sure if you noticed, but at the war cemetery the last name on the wall was Lena's fathers name, and the rest of the walls were blank, meaning he is the last official casualty of the war; I'm not sure on the timeline of when Theo's commander died, but it seems like not even he was counted as a casualty to keep up the lie of using autonomous weapons. Also, I think the uncle was calling Lena's father ignorant and stupid for bringing a child (his own niece) to the frontline of a warzone, not for his ideals, since just before that he had complemented his sense of justice.
