Just announced: Lycoris Recoil: The Play "Life won't wait" The second of the live-action theatrical version of Lycoris Recoil will be performed in Tokyo between June 7 and June 16, 2024. The original play of Lyco-Reco (January 2023) was fantastically enjoyable, and with all the main cast members returning, the second play promises the same. What is intriguing is the plot line. The first play ended exactly where the anime ended. So does that mean that this play is getting ahead of the anime's story? 2024-01-15 22:38:45 +0000 UTCMy memory on this was definitely hazy so I decided to go and look at the show's website. During the February 11, 2023 event they did announce the decision to produce "a new animation." However, just as you said, there was no specific mention of Season 2 in this announcement. The accompanying YouTube video also merely stated "Their story is not yet ending." As I wrote above, Oricon reported Lyco-Reco had sold more dics than any other anime in 2022 (over 170k copies across 6 volumes as of last February), putting it way above the typical break-even line, so the budgeting for a new full season is not an issue. We will have to wait and see what this "new animation" really entails.

2023-07-21 10:43:54 +0000 UTCThere is an announcement for a new Project but never for a S2 for sure. IT could be a Recap movie or a single OVA ep for all we know. At the end of the show there was some kritics to the show and the director. As early marketing and the early eps seemed it would be a Yuri show but never got precisely about it.

2023-07-20 19:22:18 +0000 UTCWhen they produced Lycoris Recoil: The Play last January, the actors were all looking forward to another production based on Season 2 (which they at that time didn't know was going to happen). They said it was loads of fun to perform Lyco-Reco. During the curtain call for the final performance night, the guy who played Majima was hilarious because he would not come out of his role at all, just defiantly standing there as if to say "You all will see me again, soon."

2023-07-20 16:42:33 +0000 UTCAn excellent chance for Season 2. This show sold more discs than any other anime of 2022 (even beating Bocchi the Rock!), so their budget coffers are flush. A-1 Pictures is a bit overbooked right now, so we will see about the timing.
