If it wasn't enough confirmation that things feel off by calling it an "impossible fantasy" there are a few other hints. Like not going to her house until Komachi is brought up, or him asking for the mother to stay so he isn't alone with Yui. At least we got a very short exchange between Yumiko and Hikio again, yeah~~ Too bad that in the anime she didn't hear him saying that (among the other things that got changed, but I am thankful for those other changes, since The fake prom afterparty was just awkward for everyone involved.).

2023-09-24 16:59:07 +0000 UTCyeah, things definitely feel off when they're together, because it's incredibly forced. hachiman likes + respects yui a lot and she's one of his closest friends, but they both know she has feelings for him, and he doesn't reciprocate those feelings but is trying to force himself to for the sake of/at the request of the person he ACTUALLY likes, and that's just. a recipe for disaster.
