2023-04-10 05:54:51 +0000 UTC*no spoilers* Just fyi it was previously stated in season 2 after the flashback to Rengoku's dad's letter that Tanjiro's dad was born with a birthmark on his forehead, which would mean that neither the dad nor the baby in this episode's flashback were Tanjiro's dad.

It takes a lot of patience, but also a lot of memory retention to call back on previous seasons to connect the dots and understand the entire piece of the story. Also, the castella's didnt wake him up. It was just Goto's imagination of potentially waking him up with the castellas.
