Which only stopped with Yukino’s redemption of Sagami. Then the confession arc with Ebina, again humiliating himself. But the show comes to highlight how little Hachiman cares about himself. And the biggest issue which is recurring that he’s a ‘cool’ loner and doesn’t need anyone. But the juxtaposition is there on the repeated scenes where he calls himself a liar. When Iroha has he issue with SCP (Student council president) Hachiman is quick to bring up another plan which humiliated him, but Yukino tries to stop this giving several other solution which Hachiman shoots down. Once Iroha is the ultimately selected, to ‘save’ Yukino from leaving, Hachiman is over ridden with Guilty and thus attempting to ‘help’ her without including the SC (service club). During this ‘help’ his constantly lying and the constant visits to the SC become a reminder of the awful things his doing to his ‘superficial friends’. Hachiman’s attempt to be the ‘cool’ loner is driving away a true friendship with the SC and becoming more of the a superficial group like Hayama’s . Yukino realises the person Hachiman is becoming; lair, manipulative, and deceiving. Ironically his doing this for one person. The two closest to Hachiman have been Yui and Yukino, Yui being in his class he is able to see her around and make small talk, but Yukino being in a different class the SC is really the only place he can have “small talks” with her. To hurt himself is the only way he can be in the SC and close to Yukino. Yukino being a genuine friend sees him in constant pain and misery and feels responsible and thus decided to take action with ‘removing’ from the club. Yukino’s intentions were that to help Hachiman become a ‘better’ person. However, Hachiman has become the exact opposite of what she wished for him and feels like she’s to blame. This she wants to push him away and free him of any responsibilities he thought he may have. Yukino also is not clear as what she means to Hachiman and thus why she decided to talk this approach as SC president. Also the whole waiting outside the class for Yui is a poly to ensure Yui is not seen with him and have a negative impact in her friend groups because she’s associated to Hachiman. Ty for reading through another looonnngg analysis of the ep. ✌🏽

2023-04-04 00:50:55 +0000 UTCEven though there is a lot more going on inside Hatchiman's head and her's some of the things Yukino said were technically true. He had been forcing himself to show up to the club lately and it was only because Yui was trying her best to bring him there everyday. Also notice how Yukino made the same argument Hatchiman used on Hayato about "if something like this is all it takes to break us up we probably weren't very close to begin with" but what i thought was interesting was the way she added the "isn't that right?" at the end of it like she was asking him isn't that what you believe? It's pretty funny that you said that scene feels almost like a break up, i said the exact same thing too.
