sooo ... this one might be a bit out of left field. I just wanted to take a break from my current project and try something different.
I remembered I had the ME collection still installed on my PC and I also had knowledge that it could be modded (had some stuff installed myself) ... so I just felt like doing it ? I kinda forgot the whole trial & error process of modding, nowadays I'm pretty much on autopilot for FO4, so it was kinda fun doing something I never did before and trying to figure it out.
I picked this random top I made a while back and gave it a go. Well ... it wasn't actually that random, I picked it specifically because it has no coverage on shoulders or most of the body, as to make mesh adjustments and rigging as painless as possible.
In any case, after two days of messing about ... it works ? . Process of getting this ingame is not as "user-friendly" as it is for FO4, but the first step is always the hardest. I have somewhat of an understanding how the game loads things and most of the process now, so repeating this would be a lot smoother. That being said, I still don't understand some things like how the specular maps work/are packed and what's what there. Also some vertex normal issues with hard edges showing where they shouldn't on the body.
Textures are also definitely not built with this game in mind since they're PBR and this game predates that paradigm. Alongside figuring out the specular, those would need adjustment to look better.
Regardless, I might be able to fidget with it some more (maybe add some pants/footwear) and release it as an outfit. Then there's also ME1/2 as potential candidates, I haven't messed with those. I mostly just made this for myself out of curiosity, but if you want this, definitely drop a comment or something, so that I can gauge interest.
