There are limits to good intentions. Imagine someone intends to go to work 5 days a week but could only manage to show up 1 day a month (but he does pull an all-nighter). Then he asks for an advance on his pay worth 4 times what he normally makes. And does that every month for 2 years. You think a monthly note expressing good intensions would save that person’s job? It’s definitely not Tef’s monthly bullshit note about he intends to write 3 chapters next month that’s keeping me around. The story is keeping me from leaving. Except chapter 173 didn’t advance the story at all. What would I be staying for if every chapter just tells us how everyone hates Tom Walker, how Lynette is pregnant, and how they don’t quite know what Xar’ is going to do, and how half his matriarchs are still asleep? I’m not telling Tef what to do. Nor should you tell anyone to stay around because Tefler is going to write a note in a few hours telling us about all the chapters he intends to write next month.

@The Professor: Tefler takes two months and four precharges to write a single chapter. That’s $4 a chapter. The average fantasy novel might have 20 chapters. At $4 a chapter such a book would be $80. No one is buying digital editions of fantasy novels at $80 a pop. Except for us idiots of course.

My problem isn’t really the money and I stay because I love the story. That said how many times has he made promises of catching up and better communication. Not keeping his word on over a year of promises brings the natural questions about everything he tells us. I never wanted to open my own business because I wasn’t confident t wouldn’t be a procrastinator. Only stories or partial stories at the end of the month to get placeholders to pay bills make you go hummmm.

Seriously people many of you would discourage any writer. Yes, Teff has delayed and charged and taken advantage. But its not like we are paying a lot for the chapters. For less than the cost of a soft drink you can read a chapter each month. If you enjoy the story and don't like place holders set your maximum number of charges per month to 1 and pay a single dollar and stop trolling.

Larry was curt but he has a point. A book with an ending the author writes is better than one that has no ending because it’s abandoned. No one wants that. Now that we know John and the girls can take on a full strength progenitor and defeat him with some proficiency TSM could be ended nicely, if a bit abruptly, in as little as a chapter. It’s ok to end a book with outstanding questions and some adventures left to have. It’s not like Tefler can’t start another ‘book’. I know he mentioned that was his plan. Not perhaps at this point but Tef can barely write because of a gall stone then he might need to be flexible with where his book ends.

Let us hope Tefler is going to turn over a new leaf and quit jerking us around with his bullshit excuses. For those who are fed up and are looking for replacement content. I would suggest checking out Spade. An equally amazing author with several amazing long form novels. His current work is American isekai. An excellent story and he religiously posts 2 short chapters a week consistently without fail. Another great one is Balqquill. His Mage story the 6th school is fantastic and is also among the highest read series on literotica. His patron is about 10 chapters ahead. He posts every week for the most part. You get 3 to 4 chapters a month. The story is excellent.

We just have no idea what is actually going on with him. He puts out less every year. And he's started putting out less every month. Can one Progenitor use another’s hyper warp gate? I’ve heard this mentioned a few times, but it doesn’t make sense to me that these custom-built and coded gates would be ‘free-use’ to any progenitor. Only Valeria has the codes, and it doesn’t seem that Ghal’kagor - like other slain Progenitors will have such detailed information to pass on to Xar’…. After all wouldn’t ‘open-access’ gates be a real problem between any warring Progenitors? Thought

Just a fantastic illustration showing that he has no excuses for lack of ideas or direction. He just refuses to write in a timely manner with enough volume to catch up on what we paid him for last year. He's so financially dependent on it now that he can't get by without preselling work that won't come out in more than a year. Who even knows if he will live long enough to fulfill the backlog he already has. I'm not complaining about the quality of the story. Tefler is a master story teller and I enjoy every chapter immensely. I'm just pissed that he is jerking us around and not living up to his obligations to us readers who have paid for years and gotten 1/3 of what we have paid for.

I totally disagree with you Jim. There is so much house keeping that needs to be done for them to prepare to go on the offensive. Each of these house keeping items could be a chapter by itself. You have the whole Star Forge to get up and running. You have all of the disabled Galkiran fleets repaired, You have trial/execution to conclude, you have the escaping Galkiran fleets to round back up, you have the Hyper Warp Gate to disassemble and move. You need to turn the Shroud into a fortress and seed the Lianelis Saevath Network across the shroud.

That’s a bit unjustified to say the story didn’t progress in 173. The new matriarch is going to eliminate all mystery around Progenator society from a Thrall perspective. No more questions about what is normal or abnormal. Full access to systems maps. That latest enemy was a chief strategist that avoided ground work so I would expect him to have details on the entire map of empires. It overall puts us on a strategic path towards resolution where other chapters were more situational tactics.

What Tefler is doing is not within the spirit (and barely within the letter, if at all) of Patreon's rules. Tefler set the pay system up to be $x (depending on pledge level) per chapter. Placeholders are a breach of promise, charging for a non-chapter as if it were a chapter. Patreon does not "provide" these placeholders, Tefler is misrepresenting to both the supporters and Patreon that the placeholder text is an acceptable fulfillment of the chapter he's allowed (via the pledge structure he chose to set up) to charge for.

tefler, could it be that, along with your health problems, you have a severe case of writers block and dont know where to take this stoey long term while keeping it interesting? if thats the case let me lend a hand in giving feedback, as to which were interesting parts to read about. I really liked the adventures at the start, when we got experience new and alien civilisations and there was a sort of political intrigue going on. furthermore there was lots of intrigue towards johna origins. I think you could revive these themes if we looked at progenitor societies more closely (from civilians/marines point of views) over extended periods or if multiple progenitors where forced to join forces to defeat john. There could also be rogue Progenitors who reject xar upon arrival in the shroud and band with John (would probably have to be a pretty yound one. Moral ambiguity could be explored through such a character, and redemption (male characters can be a part of this story too, please no gay stuff tho [just not my cup of tea and not johns either]). i feel the 12 hour wormhole timer is exhausting to read, write and think around. i think if john had an ally with a wormhole generator + maybe his dad helps him too we can see real alliances forming with a lot more breathing room between the action which makes room for your awesome character writing. we could also explore the astral during these times (or maybe a lull in invasions is because john squares off against xar and injures him, a first for that beast). Then there could be a widescale invasion which is fought on multiple fronts and john needs to band his empires but also the civilisations of the shroud together (humans, ashanath, brimorians, kintark and trankarans) to fight it off. at this point it can be a long back and forth with brief ebbs in the action to allow for rest. I also think you are totally allowed to honor your erotica roots and write about that stuff for more than 200 words/chapter . these are just my thoughts as a long term reader and enjoyer of your writing maybe some of these ideas speak to you, maybe you find them to be garrish and terrible. thats up to you, you are the author

When he started this journey Teflers chapters were 5k to 15k in length think is was after 20 chapters that they started getting 20k regularly and some were much larger. I'd be fine if he consistently put out 10k chapter maybe 2 a month to catch up and the story going again. Then if he could handle larger chapters fine if not id be happy with consistent monthly chapters

To be honest, it would go a long way if he'd just keep us "regularly updated" on his status throughout the month (something like "got a paragraph/page written today/this week.") Just check in, say "hi" and interact a bit instead of just going completely dark until midnight on the last day of each month. If he wants this be a job, it would work to his advantage to treat it like one and check with his supporters (the ones paying for his work product) on a regular basis like anyone else would have to do. It would dramatically improve the writing discipline.

@Tefler!!! You need to produce 15 postings to eat into your backlog and SAVE YOUR PATREON CHANNEL. Pump out some short side stories, post some reader submissions and some story art - can be generated by fans - and you can get caught up this month! Post regularly for 3 months (2-3 mini chapters @ 5,000 - 7,000 words each + AI artwork) per month, and you’ll be back in good standing with your fans and be able to support tier levels again. The alternative is to kill your channel, destroy your career and have ZERO INCOME from your fan base.

Tefler, I think you need to do some work in the community that isn’t just writing. Maybe also start adding commissioned art pieces and AI generated things. Start showing us your world in addition to describing it. It’s okay that you’ve got a backlog but it’s only getting longer and the gaps between chapters is getting bigger. If you’re doing things to make the community more active, the wait won’t be as much as a burden. Maybe you can also invite guest authors to write in-universe side stories.

At this point, HOW you release chapters is as important as meeting the 23rd hour of the last day of the month deadline. PLEASE ask for help before you destroy your page. I started reading the story over in the mean-time. It was better the first time through, but still better than waiting 3 months for a chapter to be completed. Great story - I just wish he’d treat it like a business and offer consistent production and extra things that could justify multiple tiers of membership. With AI, we could see character renderings. I am very much aware of the delays in original writing caused by disease, depression, burnout and creative exhaustion. But the problem is that people are paying for promises with no written results. I only pay a dollar each time . I started seeing the delayed publishing schedule and figured a dollar a month was little enough, given the delays. Although pressure is on you please don't hastily create a substandard narrative from this great story. Your most awesome feats are before you. Capturing progenitor fleets one by one.taking their matriarch and persuading them to ally with John to attack individual progenitors with many fleets of allied females and forming an army to eventually overcome the big bag progenitor spirit in the sky. That with many side distractions seems to be one obvious direction in this book. There is much to be found in the galaxy. New races, new powerful versions of John's girls awaiting. So much potential.

Based on how math works you won’t be able to catch up delivering 1.5 chapters a month and charging for 2. Please stop promising to keep in touch every month.
