Merch? (Ended)

With October coming up, I wanted to talk about the Merch program Patreon can provide. They do it in a weird, confusing way and I had to do a lot of research on my end to figure it out entirely, so bear with me while I try my best to explain it.

Merch comes as a Loyalty program for long time Patrons, so it’s no additional cost on your end. They offer a few different kinds of merchandise ranging in prices (that I would pay for) from Stickers and Mini Prints to Mugs and Shirts. Obviously, the Merch provided would be the cheaper ones, with more expensive ones on special occasions.

An example would be a 4”x4” sticker (or mini print) of a girl from a game. And, once in a while, a mug!

~Examples: Sticker, Mini Print, & Mug. These are shown as references and not exact.

This is where it gets a tad confusing.

The loyalty program they offer works in 3 month intervals. So Patrons who pledge for 3 consecutive months will start earning Merch each 3 months, with new Merch each time. So, if this is something you want, I will start offering Merch when October starts so that by the end of December you get the first one!

Here’s the catch, not only does Patreon charge me for the Merch, but they also take a permanent additional fee from all of the pledges. But, again, I’m willing to do it if it’s something you want.

Now, since Merch costs money, it will only be available to the CupCupMug tier and The Mug tier. (With The Mug tier getting 2 different ones each time.)

Patreon deals with everything, including the shipping, and they can ship worldwide. All your shipping information will be private to everyone, including me.

An upside to Merch is that it will help draw more attention, and potentially help the CupCupMug budget with Patrons wanting to stick around longer. Ultimately meaning I can afford better programs and softwares to use for game development. (One thing I want to save up for is a better tablet to draw art on, the one I'm currently using is very outdated and can’t keep up sometimes.)

So, that’s basically it! This may not interest everyone, so I thought I’d gather your thoughts to see what you think.

It’s a bit of a ‘high risk, high reward’ situation. With it either ending in total failure, or being a complete success!

I’d love to hear your thoughts! Cheers!

It's super cool that Patreon can do this, it'd be awesome to see some art in physical form
