Deep thought poll
Added 2025-05-20 11:08:36 +0000 UTCI once heard a quote about anime. It was a long time ago, so I can't quote it directly, but it was something like:
"Anime tells itself and conveys its emotion not through movement, but stillness".
That always stuck with me. Yes, action and speaking are essential for any story, but the quiet parts are equally powerful.
And, being a prideful deer, this will segue back to me! In the serious audios, what is more poignant to you? When Alastor is speaking deeply about something, or when he is silent/sighs/hesitates?

2025-05-20 17:44:53 +0000 UTCI’m not going to dive deep into that right now, I could go on and on about this xD But overall, I absolutely agree! Silences, whether they are pure silence, or just a moment without words and/or actions happening, can be very powerful when done right, and tell us so much more than any words/actions ever could. They can make scenes intense, scary or even hilarious. (That ending of the live broadcast with listener making things ‘hard’ for Alastor is a perfect example of the latter 😏 😂) But you can’t make a story with only pure silence. It would literally be nothing. Making a good movie/video without any words is already very hard, but if you only have audio to work with? I’m not sure if it is possible, but hey you surprised me before ;) Still, I think that would only be interesting for like one audio, not a series. (Could be me though, I’m terrible at concentrating on anything audible lol 😂) Plus, I’m pretty sure I speak for every single one of us all when I say; we love to hear your amazing voice 🤩 All things considered, (I’ve said this many times before and I will keep saying it), I think it’s all a matter of balance. ⚖️ Silences can make the spoken parts more powerful, and spoken parts can make the silences more powerful. It’s mostly a matter of timing things right. (Edit; actually scratch that last part. Timing is important, but the voice acting and editing are equally important here. This is just something where timing is especially important, but not the only thing that’s important.)
