update, Scarlett Poll Results progress

Hi all,

I hope the new year is starting off great for everyone. I'm working hard on the Scarlett Poll Results video; the pic above is a sneak peek at Helen Grant, Scarlett's less-super identity.

The animation, when done, will be one of the more complex and longer ones I've done. For starters, it's a full-on conversation to kick it off -- it's a couple of pages of back-and-forth dialogue...then a full, multi-angle, FX-laden transformation sequence, and then a huuuuge beatdown scene followed by the poll-winning bearhug treatment. So, setting up all those shots takes a long time.

Then, rendering is slowed down because as you can see, I've added a proper background to this one. It looks far better than the standard MK black background, but that results in MUCH slower rendering times (exponentially slower). A 300-frame (10 second) animation now takes an entire day (or longer, dependind on the clip's actual length) to render, instead of the usual 2-4 hours.

So, have no fear. Scarlett's on her way, and it is going to be REALLY good. You guys should love it. I don't want to hazard a guess on when it will be ready, because I usually am hopelessly optimistic and WAY off on those...but it IS coming. In the meantime, I'm working on some new fiction (I'm wrapping up a 50+ page story) and lots of new artwork, some of it custom commissioned just for the site...plus the new chapter of CyberEVE's audiobook.

More soon!

Hey there -- You're too kind, my friend! And...well, yes and no. Yes in that it might render a little bit faster, but the real time intensive part of the process is still the animation process. I've been so busy with the day job and trying to keep this content flowing that I haven't really had time to properly investigate the mo cap setup I spent WAY too much money on a while back. As far as better render setup, it might be tough...I've got a pretty good machine right now, and the only real way to speed it up would be to go multiple processors (and that gets kind of hairy for me). I'm already running a tremendous video card paired with a Em drive and multiple SSDs. December was a little weak because of the holidays and me being sick so much, and I feeling a little guily about it...but when I start really beating up on myself, I check the Patreon pages of similar content guys (there's a couple of us now). I tend to be the most expensive by a couple of dollars, but I'm also usually putting out the most material and I'm the only one doing it with custom voice work (which is super pricey), so I'm hoping that helps justify the slighter higher price. That said, I'm really set on making sure everybody feels appreciated ( you are!) and I want to provide a good value. I think once this "marquee" Scarlett video is done, I'll retreat back to a few "quick, fast, and dirty" videos for a while. :)

Hey Dusty, if we build you a new rig would that help with getting more content out faster?

Can't wait to see the Scarlett sequence. But I'm dying to read a new fiction of yours. Your stories are the absolute best!

That's a good question. A lot of the time, probably not. Especially for the shorter ones.....but with this one, more of a "feature" animation, it makes it seems a LOT more professional and epic. More movie-like. I guess we'll find out for sure when it's done! :) -D

Looking great Dusty! Do you think the extra background is actually worth it? I personally don't really look at what's in the background, the blackness never bothered me, because I focus on the characters. Obviously I haven't seen the proper background yet so I can't tell how much better it looks with that, but do you think so much extra rendering time is worth for the background?

Yay

Hi there...yes, the program has that capability, but I've honestly never really looked into setting up a render farm. I figured the time spent learning to set that up was less time actually making stuff. :) I even upgraded to a Titan video card a while back, but the bulk of Poser's rendering is processor-based, so it didn't really help much. Luckily, it's really not to bad -- as long as I don't go nuts with backgrounds, it usually renders fairly quickly. I appreciate the offer; I'll have to look into the possibilities. Thanks! -D

Oh, there will be broken necks. And backs. and crushed ribs. And crushed everything else, too. :)

Dusty's MANKILLER UNIVERSE

Does your rendering program have any capacity for distributed computing? I'd be willing to help with rendering...

Bill Vu

So is she going to drain their strength and muscles and then torturing possibly break their necks and all sorts of things 2 😈😈😈😍😍
